The Day of Exams (Pt 1.)
Mari Pov.
Today is the day of the entrance exams for Totsuki, the most competitive culinary school in Japan. There graduation acceptance rate is less than 10 percent. Only the best are able to survive here. At least that's what they always say.
I wanted to leave early so I can not only get a head start, but also to take pictures of the beautiful spring scenery during my walk there. My cousin kept pestering me that I should go with her for my safety, but I insisted that I wanted to walk there. Eventually she accepted my wishes. I breath in the fresh clean air and sigh, shaking my head. "She can be so worrisome sometimes." I muttered.
Timeskip
During my walk I did see a few other people make there way to the same building as I am. I took a moment to pause staring at the tall building right in front of me with a smile. "This is it, Mama. This will be my first step to becoming a true chef.""Watch it!" Some guy pushed me away. Luckily I was able to catch myself and was still standing. I was simply standing in the middle of the pathway, so I apologized. "S-sorry." Too bad he wasn't their to hear it.
But it did bring me out of my thoughts to find another guy but he was on the ground next to a bench. By his expression it looked like something bad happened to him. Curious I walked up to him, I had some time before the exam starts anyway. He had red spiky hair, bright yellow eyes and he seemed to have a scar on his right eyebrow as well.
Soma Pov.
"Are you okay? You're not hurt are you?"
I heard a gentle voice, bringing me out of my thoughts of that arrogant guy I was just talking to. Looking up to see a young girl reaching her gloved hand out. She had long white and blue hair that sparkled in the direct sunlight and her eyes were a bright magenta color. I admit that she is really pretty. She didn't look to be one of those stuck ups, but then again I don't know for sure. I took her hand anyway, because I didn't want to be rude as I picked myself up. "Yeah, I'm fine."
"If you don't mind me asking. What happened to you?" She asked. That's when I overheard other people around talking crap about me. I didn't really care about it and brushed it off. "Ah don't worry about it. Are you taking the entrance exam?" I asked her. She nodded. "Mhm! You must be taking the exam as well, is that correct?"
A smirk grew on my face. "That's right! The names Yukihira Soma, remember it once I surpass everyone here!" I pointed directly at her.
There was a long pause before the girl snickered.
"Hehe, I'm sorry I didn't mean to laugh. Well, it's nice to meet you Soma. Since we're heading to the same place, let's go together."
I honestly thought she was laughing at me, but she's actually pretty nice. Compared to everyone else here. "You know, you're the only nice person I've came across so far. I honestly thought you would be one of them. What's your name?"
She smiled. "Hitomi Mari, and thank you for the compliment... I think?"
3rd Pov.
They made their way to the examination room, but unfortunately they did have to part ways since they were assigned different rooms. Mari at least got to learn a bit about him. She learned that Soma ran a pretty moderate diner with his father, but his dad wanted him to attend here while he on one of his trips. He was on paper a low class chef, but Mari didn't care about that. He looked like a nice guy and was very determined on becoming the best chef. She couldn't help to giggle from how determined and confident he was.
Although before they parted ways he did ask her what restaurant she cooks for. She simply dodged the question.
The room was filled with the sounds of muttering from other people in the room. The examination room was already prepped with all types of cooking equipment and even fresh ingredients on display. That is when the instructor for the exam walked in that everyone was silent. Shocked to find out that it wasn't just any ordinary person. Satoshi Isshiki, the seventh seat of the Elite ten, staring at all of the examiners in the room.
"Of course..." Mari chuckled under her breath, adjusting her silk gloves.
"Well... this should be interesting."
