Twelve years. Twelve years of activity and it all ends today. Despite the help recieved from the D&D devs as well as the corporate owner managing to extend Yggdrasils life, the game sadly still couldn't keep its head above water for too long. Within a location known as the Great Tomb of Nazarick, the guild base for the well known guild Ainz Ooal Gown, was a big room with a large round table surrounded by many chairs within the center. Sitting in two of these chairs were a skeleton in large arcane robes, known as Momonga, the guild's leader, and a purple slime creature, known as HeroHero.
"Hey there, Momonga." The slime player greeted. "It's been a while hasn't it?"
"It has." Was the Skeletons reply. "It's been a couple of years I think."
Before HeroHero could respond, the doors to the room suddenly opened as a tall, slender, aberration strolled in. They were adorned with regal black robes with deep purple accents and a large crest behind their neck in the shape of spider legs arching over their head. The whole outfit vaguely resembled something made by long dead artist H.R. Giger. The player's avatar had lavender colored skin, silver white eyes, and an octopus-like head with six long facial tentacles hanging from where his mouth is located. Each finger of each hand wore a ring, each one a different color. A ring of Ainz Ooal Gown rested upon his right hand ring finger. A lovecraftian themed spellbook was secured to his left side. It wasn't needed, but he opted to keep it for aesthetic purposes.
This player was known as Kult, he was from the US. He is a max level player originally from the game D&D who had transferred his character data to Yggdrasil after the merge, allowing him to bypass the need to start anew. Though he started at max level, he was still granted points for attributes, levels, skills and the like and was allowed to allocate them as he saw fit. He was also allowed to keep his D&D abilities, skills, and spells as well as numerous items on top of what was gained through said point allocation. This may sound broken and overpowered, but since he basically skipped the entire process of leveling, that alone prevented him from attending tournaments, participating in certain events, basically anything that would allow him to abuse that. These restrictions could be undone if he did a "character respec" which would set his character back to the begining at level one as well as remove all items. He never opted for this out of sheer laziness as he refused to start over from scratch.
He had met the guild pretty early on where he and it's leader hit it off quite quickly. He helped the guild out immensely as well as his now closest friend, and dare he say brother. As such he was soon offered a spot on the guild. He of course accepted, but Momonga had insisted that Kult be his right hand, to be his "vice guild leader" to put it simply. There were objections, but considering Kult had befriended other members such as TouchMe, HeroHero, Ulbert Alain Odle, and even Bukubukuchagama and her brother Peroroncino, as well as the objections being relatively few in number, they halted about as quick as they started.
The Ulitharid player took his seat next to Momonga, in a dark and lovecraftian themed chair he had set up himself. It was no secret that Kult enjoyed the Lovecraftian aesthetic.
"Hello." He greeted simply. Thanks to Momonga's help, plus a few others, he was able to speak Japanese and in turn helped Momonga plus his other friends to understand English.
"Hey there, Kult." HeroHero returned the greeting. "Surprised to see you here."
"Yeah, I honestly didn't think you'd show." Momonga added.
"What?" Kult said in mock offense. "I'd never leave my brother hanging!"
Momonga laughed a bit in response.
"It looks like someone's been practicing!" He exclaimed. "You actually speak Japanese quite well. For a round eye."
The mindflayer gave a joking glare before simply giving him the finger and calling him a "slant eyed cunt" in English, to which Momonga responded by basically calling him a "hamburger hillbilly" in Japanese. The two glared at each other before quickly breaking composure and sharing a hearty belly laugh.
