In the picturesque town of Sicily, Antonio was born into a family of notorious mafia leaders. As a child, he was groomed to follow in his father's footsteps and become a major crime boss. But Antonio had a childhood best friend, a young beautiful orphan named Catanya, who was his only escape from the cruel world of mafia politics.
Growing up, Antonio and Catanya did everything together. They ran through the fields, swam in the rivers, and shared secrets and dreams. Corrupt adults surrounded them, but they made sure to keep their friendship a secret.
Antonio's mother, who was not involved in her husband's criminal activities, tried to protect Antonio from the fate of his father. She knew that he was destined to follow in his father's footsteps, but she wanted to give him a chance to have a better life. But one day, Antonio's father discovered his friendship with Catanya, and he wanted to use her as leverage against the boy's mother to make her join the family business. Antonio's mother sent Catanya away to an orphanage in another town, hoping that she would be safe outside the influence of mafia life.
But Antonio was devastated when he lost his best friend. For years, he searched for Catanya, but to no avail. Antonio's father, seeing his son's sorrow, mocked him for being weak and not ready to be a true Mafia leader. Antonio trained hard to show his father that he was strong enough to lead the family business, but deep down he was still the boy who missed his best friend.
