The echo of his promise to Judith lingered in Jude's mind long after he'd left the cold confines of the hospital room. A vow to find happiness, to share his life with someone, haunted his every thought. The idea was foreign, yet the commitment to his sister was unshakeable.

A few days after his conversation with Judith, Jude found himself sitting in his expansive study, an untouched glass of whiskey on the mahogany desk in front of him. His gaze was fixed on the city's skyline, the twinkling city lights a stark contrast to the darkness that filled his heart.

His sister's condition was worsening, her once spirited eyes growing dimmer with each passing day. Jude felt a sense of helplessness that was foreign to him. He was a man accustomed to control, to bending circumstances to his will. But this... this was something he had no power over.

He sighed, running a hand through his hair in frustration. He had to fulfill his promise to Judith, but he had no idea where to start. He had always kept his personal and professional life separate, and his interactions with women were limited to strict business.

His mind wandered to his previous encounters, most of which were with women from his social circle—women who were more interested in his wealth than his well-being. He needed someone genuine, someone compassionate. Someone like... Hannah.

Hannah... The name echoed in his mind, bringing back memories of a chance encounter a few months ago. She was a waitress at a small-town café he'd stopped by on his way back from a business meeting. Her warmth and kindness had left an impression on him. She was different from the women he usually met. She was genuine, real.

He remembered her sparkling blue eyes, her infectious laugh, and the way her face lit up when she talked about her dreams of opening her own bakery. She was ambitious, determined, qualities he admired. She had a certain warmth and kindness that was rare in his world.

A thought crossed his mind, a glimmer of an idea. Could she be the one? Could she be the person he needed to fulfill his promise to Judith?

The more he thought about it, the more it made sense. Hannah was everything Judith wanted for him. She was kind-hearted, genuine, and had a zest for life that was infectious. However, he was aware of the stark differences in their lives. His world was made up of boardrooms and business deals, while hers was filled with warm smiles and baked goods.

With newfound determination, he decided to approach Hannah with a proposal. A contract marriage for six months. It would provide her the financial support she needed to open her own bakery, and give him the opportunity to fulfill his promise to Judith.

As he dialed a private investigator to locate Hannah, he was aware of the unconventional path he was taking. But he was a man on a mission, driven by a promise to his dying sister. He would move heaven and earth to make Judith's final wish come true.

As he waited for the investigator to pick up, he glanced at the picture of him and Judith on his desk. A wave of sadness washed over him. He missed the days when her laughter filled the house, when her eyes sparkled with mischief and joy. He would give anything to bring back those days, but the harsh reality was that he couldn't. All he could do was honor his promise to her, to find happiness in a world that was soon to be devoid of her presence.

"Mr. Carter," the investigator's voice brought him back to the present, pulling him away from his thoughts.

"I need you to find someone for me," Jude said, his voice steady. He provided the details he remembered about Hannah, her name, the location of the café, and her dream of owning a bakery.

"I'll get on it right away," the investigator promised before hanging up.

As Jude sat back in his leather chair, his thoughts returned to Hannah. He recalled her warm smile, her laughter, the way she had talked so passionately about her dreams. He could only hope that she would be open to his proposal. A proposal that was far from ordinary, but then again, nothing about his current situation was ordinary.

He found himself praying that she would accept, not just for his sake, but for Judith's as well. As he gazed out of the window at the city lights, he realized that his life was about to take a significant turn. A turn that would either lead him to happiness, as Judith wanted, or break him completely.

Unbeknownst to him, across the city, in a small apartment, Hannah was just returning from her shift at the café. Tired yet satisfied, she had no idea that her life was about to change in ways she had never imagined. The next few days would bring a whirlwind of surprises, challenges, and possibly, a chance at love.

As Jude and Hannah's worlds moved closer to collision, the wheels of fate started turning, setting the stage for a journey that was about to begin. A journey that promised to be anything but ordinary.
