Dearest Readers,

Though the phrase 'A diamond is worth a dozen' may be true in most occurrences, I am delighted to say that this season's diamond is worth much more than that. Gentle Readers, We have been waiting for a new season's diamond to be extraordinary, and I believe this season has finally approached. Yesterday, The ton was shocked to find that Lady (Y/n) (L/n) was bestowed the title of 'Diamond of the season' by the Queen at the coming out. Lady (L/n) was only 7th in line out of 15, proving to have made her message with her perfect sway, delicate features, glistening frock, and generous grace. Lady (Y/n) has proved herself to be the one of most dazzling diamonds in the history of coming outs with our beloved Queen. Those who walked after her were seen as simpletons, every flaw easily picked out when being compared to the charm of Lady (L/n).

Do be aware, Gentle Reader, one hast already made his claim upon our freshest diamond of the season. The Viscount Lord Bridgerton was seen to have been conversing with the (L/n)'s. Courting may already be in the question, because this author is aware of the Bridgerton and (L/n) bonds. We may see more of this blooming relationship from the Carnington Ball tomorrow, and fear not, Dear Readers, for if there is any scandale in the midst of the event, I will uncover it.

Yours sincerely,
Lady Whistledown

You let out a breath as you slowly walked into the Carnington ball with your mother close by. You fanned yourself awkwardly, feeling a nervous bubble grow in your tummy. You had never gone to a ball in this way before. Men would want to dance with you, maybe even more than once! You felt like you could pass out and die at any moment.

"Come on my dear, wear that smile. We must see the queen before we can continue." Your mother stated, leading you towards the front of the ball where the queen sat. You stood in a line of presentation, eyes wondering around the beautifuly decorated ball space. As your eyes moved, they eventually caught a certain somebody's dark eyes. Anthony wore a smirk on his lips as he turned towards you, ending a conversation with a girl before him. You smiled to him quickly before turning your head forward, now being one behind a girl.

Soon enough, you faced the queen. A smile raising to her lips. You curtsied to the woman slowly, raising yourself back up to make eye contact with the queen.

"Hello my dear. If it was not formally announced before," she turned to her footman, making him call attention to her, "Lady (Y/n) (L/n), you are my diamond of the season." She smiled, nodding her head to you. You wore a bright smile, suddenly hearing multiple steps behind you. You turned around and noticed multiple men standing behind you. Before any of them could speak, a certain Viscount stated proudly,

"Lady (L/n), may I have this dance?" He asked, offering his hand towards you. You licked over your lips and nodded.

"You may, Lord Bridgerton." Your lips flattened for a moment as you laid your hand onto the man's. You gulped as you took a step forward, a scatter of footsteps beginning to come onto the floor. More people around you were beginning to dance to the instrumentals, your feet beginning to follow the music as Lord Bridgerton spun you around.

"You kept my dance, Lady (L/n)." The man said, you tuning towards him.

"Well, keeping isn't what I would call it. You just happened to ask first, Lord Bridgerton." You hummed in a stressful tone, his lips curling into a smirk.

"That I did." You walked around him, placing your hand on his shoulder to the music. You had to look pleased though. For the queen.

"You don't seem very pleased." He stated, your eyes looking up to his suddenly. You laughed him off, now having to keep your eyes on his.
