MUSIC BLARED THROUGH HER EARS AS HER EYES SCANNED THE NEWSPAPER IN FRONT OF HER. Now, any other woman would be out there on the streets trying to find a suitable man or trying to earn any sort of money. Not Elodie Rhodes though. Dont get it wrong, she wasnt just wasting away in her room or wanting to live off of her dad forever, she was trying to make a meaningful change in life.

She had been fascinated in cryostasis for the past few years and had finally found a breakthrough. Her research, it could help hundreds, maybe even thousands if she was able to test it and publish it. It was kind of hard to do when she was a woman with no actual degree to which no man ever took seriously.

It wasn't for a lack of trying. No university accepted many women and if they did, it was very few. It didnt help that her father didnt help in that task. He heard about how she wanted to go study but always turned the idea down. So, Elodie had to rely on the library and news paper articles.

"Elodie?" Her name being called brushed right past her as she nodded her head to the music, circling something on the page in front of her. It was only when her headphones were lifted off that she was aware of her fathers presence. "Elodie, have you been in here all day?" Richard asks her but his daughter only had a beaming smile on her face.

"I found something fascinating, look." Elodie says as she slightly moves out of the way to start showing him but he sighs, shaking his head.

"What have we talked about? You can't spend all your time in here. You need to go out, talk to people." Richard announces and Elodie did not see the point of hanging around people who only forced their laughter and secretly hated you behind your back.

"I talked to Serena." Elodie simply says with a shrug.

"You know she doesn't count."

"Look, a researcher in Sweden found out a crucial detail in cryostasis working. It's the last piece of the puzzle that I needed, with this--" elodie starts to explain as she turns back to her research.

"Sweetheart, just stop for a moment." Richard tells her but Elodie didnt really listen to him.

"Dad, with this, we could find cures to illnesses without the possibility of the people dying. We could freeze them while we look and they could survive." Elodie says with hopefulness in her eyes. Thinking about all the people who's lives could be spared because of illnesses that had no cure. She found that good enough to sacrifice a few friendships and parties.
