Dylan's POV

It was a beautiful morning in Alola. The sun shined through my window and lit up my room.

"Gahhhhh!" I said as sat up in my bed and began to stretch my arms.

I turned over to my calendar on the wall and noticed what day it was. Today was the day! It was August 10th which means I'm finally 18!

I got up out of bed and changed into my favorite black t-shirt and shorts before running downstairs.

"Can you not run down the stairs? Thanks." I heard someone say as I ran into the living room.

It was my younger sister Alyssa, she could be a real pain in my ass and a jerk but we've always had each others back.

"Where are you going in such a hurry?" She asked.

"It's my 18th birthday! That means I'm allowed to pick a Pokémon and enroll into some of the academies!" I said with pure excitement.

"Oh yeah, but shouldn't you wait for mom and dad? They should be back from training any minute now."

Oh yeah something you should know about my parents is that they're actually retired battlers. I heard rumors and stories from my mom that my dad was actually so strong he could be considered a "battle legend."

"Nah! I don't want to waste a single second!" I said as I grabbed my backpack and put on my shoes. "When they get home just tell them I went to the professors lab!"

"Ugh, you're so annoying." My sister said with an eye roll.

I walked out my house and it was super bright outside. Wingull flew across the sky, a slight breeze cooled the air. Melemele Island was as beautiful as ever!

I began to run down the pathway towards the professors house, and I saw many Grubbin, Pikipek, and Yungoos enjoying the nice weather.

"Alright lets keep on going!" I heard a boy shout down the path.

It looked like two trainers were battling against each other.

"Rowlet knock Litten back with Razor Leaf!" A boy shouted.

Rowlet's trainer was around my height and he also had tan skin and wore glasses

While Litten's trainer was the same skin tone as me with long, curly hair and was also around the same height as me.

"Brace yourself Litten!" The other boy shouted.

"Mrowr!" Litten said as it braced for impact.

Litten slid across the ground as a flurry of glowing leaves shot from Rowlet's wings.

"Phew, that's enough for me today, I'm beat." Litten's trainer said as he returned his Pokémon.

"Yeah, I agree." Rowlet's trainer said as he also returned his Pokémon.

I walked up to the two trainers as they were talking to each other.

"That was a cool battle!" I said excitedly.

"Uh, who are you?" The trainer with the rowlet said.

"Oh my bad, I didn't introduce myself. I'm Dylan nice to meet y'all." I responded.

"All good gangy, I'm Declan." The boy with the Litten said.

"And I'm Willis." The other boy said.

"If I remember correctly those are starter Pokémon. Did y'all just get your Pokémon today?" I asked them

"Yup! Even though they were the only ones left I'm quite happy with my starter." Willis said.

"Wait...these were the last two!" I shouted.
