The girls reached the shore of Himon, where there were a number of guards standing there waiting for them. Fiadh covered her face feeling a mixture of both embarrassment and worry. As the boat came to a stop, the guards escorted the two girls off the boat and into the throne room of the castle. The pearly white walls reflected off the king's and queen's golden thrones. The sun's rays beamed through the giant colorful glass pane of Queen Yvonne, hitting Fiadh causing her freckles all over her body to become a variety of colors.
Soon enough Queen Yvonne and King Asahi stepped into the room and took their seats. They all remained quiet for a moment before Yvonne spoke out. "So? Are you going to explain yourself?"
Fiadh took a deep breath, then stepped forward, "Yvonne I-"
"Its Queen to you" Yvonne said with a stern tone of voice
Queen Yvonne is the adopted mother of Fiadh and her brother. While she let the kids call her by her name instead of "Queen" or "Mom" whenever she was serious or was in a bad mood she wouldn't let it slide.
"Queen... Ceegen was right about the book. We found it. But it was taken from us." Yvonne just stared silently while Fiadh talked, "Though we're not sure where to find them"
Jasmine stepped up next to Fiadh, "I think they're from Julinea. I saw their ears and they were elf-like."
The King and Queen spoke to each other for a moment before coming to a final decision. "We have decided that if you wish to continue this mission then you both will have to stay here for about a month as a-"
King Asahi was quickly cut off by Jasmine, "A punishment?! I even live in this castle. Why am I being punished?"
"Because you went along with Fiadh's plan. But you won't get punished if you wish. But that'll mean you may no longer work on a 'cure' for the curses" Yvonne said with air quotes
Jasmine thought for a second. But didn't think about it too long, not wanting to bring back old memories. "Fine...I'll stay"
Yvonne nodded and had the guards escort them to their rooms. As they walked through the pearly white halls they reached three sets of doors. The first one being white, the second red and the last being silver.
"Miss Rogers the third door will be your room" the guard said pointing to it.
Fiadh walked through the red door while Jasmine went through the silver. Jasmine was taken aback when she saw the room. The room was huge. The walls are the same white color as the halls but with a golden accent. In one corner of the room was a round bed with a rope next to it. Jasmine tugged on it a bit and to her surprise the bed started to hover off the ground.
I could get used to this, Jasmine thought. But before she could get in the bed and truly relax there was a knock at the door. Jasmine opened it and Fiadh stood on the other side with different clothes. All her knight armor was gone and in its place were formal clothes and a few jewelry in her well kept hair, which was a huge improvement from her wolf jungle from earlier that day.
"I- how did you get yourself to look like you didn't just get jumped by a bear? We've been in our rooms for like five minutes!" Jasmine exclaimed.
"Oh I'm always training late so I've learned how to quickly change. Which brings me to the reason I'm here now. Get dressed, dinner's at 6pm sharp."
Jasmine looked at the clock in her room. 5:40. "Why exactly do I need to dress like...that?" Jasmine said, looking Fiadh up and down with confusion.
"You're living with royalty. Unless you have a good reason you always have to look your best. Some shit about keeping a certain image I don't really know."
Jasmine sighed then closed the door on Fiadh and walked over to the closet filled with clothes that were added long before she entered the castle. She threw on the first thing she saw and could fit. And put on a single emerald ring so they couldn't say anything about her not having jewelry on. She took a look at herself in the mirror, and hated how she looked. Looking back at the clock she only had about ten minutes to be in the dining hall. Then it hit her. She didn't know where the dining hall was at. Jasmine quickly ran out of her room to find Fiadh still standing in the hall.
"Didn't expect me to actually wait did you?"
Fiadh led the shorter female to the dining hall. And they made it at exactly 6pm. The two girls took a seat at the long wooden table. At the end of the table was a dark wooden chair with a purple cushion where Queen Yvonne was sitting drinking some wine. To the right of her was King Asahi in a dark chair but it was slightly lighter than Yvonne's. On Yvonne's left side was Fiadh in a chair that was the same color as the table. Jasmine went to take a seat next to Fiadh but she was quick to panic.
"Wait, don't sit there!" Fiadh exclaimed, using her body to physically block the chair. "My brother Ceegen sits there. And he's pretty strict on others touching his stuff."
Jasmine rolled her eyes and took the seat next to King Asahi. A few minutes later one of the servants with a taller male behind him. The servant whispered something into the boy's ear and the boy finally sat at the table. Right next to Fidah. He was looking down the whole time fidgeting with his fingers. He looked just like Fiadh, right down to the brown wavy hair to the red eyes and freckles. Soon the food arrived and they all began eating.
While the royal family and Jasmine ate their dinner, Teal on the other hand was having problems with the book.
"You stupid book!" They yelled, throwing it at a nearby brick wall. The problem with it is that the book didn't have any words in it. "Ugh. This makes no sense. It's a book. It's supposed to have words."
Teal grabbed a pencil and flipped to the first page of the book and wrote 'Where are the words?' But the question they asked just got magically erased. Which just pissed them off more. Then Teal had an idea. They ran around town screaming, "Oh Sandy! Mr. Sandman! Where art thou?" Teal continued yelling down into an alleyway. When suddenly a male approached. "Aye! What's up buddy?"
The shorter male sighed then looked up at Teal with his amber eyes, "Teal...what do you want now?"
"Can't I talk to my friend?"
The male stayed silent.
"Fine, give me the silent treatment." Teal said, rolling their eyes then threw the book. "There Mr.Wizard"
The male picked it up without losing eye contact with Teal."A book?"
"Yeah i found it laying around somewhere and thought you might want it"
The male read the title of it, "alright you might as well confess what your planning"
"Whatever do you mean Zakol?"
Zakol rolled his eyes, "I don't have the energy for this right now."
As Zakol said that the yellow gem on his wooden staff began to glow and the sand from underneath him circled around his feet like a tornado. Then in an instance Zakol went under the sand and was gone.
Back at the castle the two girls were outside training while Ceegen sat and watched. The two girls threw punches at each other but it was mainly Jasmine getting hit constantly by Fiadh.
"Have you ever sparred before?" Fiadh asked, still throwing punches.
"No. My bow is the only weapon i've used"
Fiadh stopped and allowed Jasmine to get some water, "Well that explains why you did so poorly against the Ogres" Jasmine looked at Fiadh dirty, "What? It's true, I'm not gonna lie about it. You can't rely on your bow for everything, it's only good for long range. And not every fight will be like that."
Ceegen snapped his fingers to get the girl's attention. He then started to do sign language which left Jasmine confused. "Um, what did he say?"
"He suggested I give you the same training I had to do to be a knight. It's not a bad idea but it took me like two years to fully understand it and we really only have a month to focus fully on training you." Ceegen signed again. "You know what you're right Ceegen. A little training is better than none at all"
Fiadh looked at Jasmine with a determined smile and Jasmine just stared back, ready to begin.
