Chapter 1 Once there lived a girl named Ella, who lived in California with her parents. She was fond of horses and mysteries. Her life was perfect until one day. Her father yelled, 'Ella, come downstairs, it's time to go,' Ella, who was just reading her favourite mystery book, said, 'Coming, father.' 'Why did you call me father?' she asked. Her father replied, saying, 'Your mother and I have great news.' Ella, whose mind ran with suspense and excitement, thought that her parents were finally getting her a horse! Ella's father continued speaking, 'We're moving.' Ella was shocked. She then started thinking about how her life would change due to this, and weighed the pros and cons of moving. She immensely adored her friends in California, but her Mom and Dad never told her where they were moving to. A few days passed by, and then came the moving day. On the way to the new house, Ella was gloomy and felt extremely upset. Her dad tried to cheer her up by taking her to see all the fun things to do on the way to the house. Finally, Ella came to the conclusion that even though her life is changing, she can still make the best of it. When they arrived at their new house, she immediately felt regretful. The house's exterior was beaten up, with wood coming out of it and rats and bugs crawling around. Ella, refusing to lower her spirits, thought that perhaps the interior would be better. She decides to go up to her new room while her parents are unpacking. As Ella goes to put her clothes in her closet, a very odd thing happens. There's a safe in it!
Ella, intrigued, approaches it cautiously to explore it some more, but just then her mom calls her down for dinner. Sighing, she walks downstairs and sits down at the dinner table to eat, exhausted. 'Are you excited about your first day of school tomorrow,' Ella's dad asks her. 'I suppose so. I mean, I'm pretty excited. I guess I'll make some new friends,' she responds, shrugging. Because of Covid-19, Ella hadn't been to school in years, so she was anxious to go back and interact with every in-person again. After dinner, she went back up to her room, and made another attempt to try to open the safe. However, there were 5 locks on the safe, in addition to a padlock. This made it nearly impossible to open the lock, no matter what Ella tried to do. Eventually, she plopped her sleeping bag on the ground and went to bed in defeat. The next day, she woke up, ate breakfast, and rode to school on her vintage bike. She felt a mixture of emotions, being both nervous and excited at the same time. She saw this shy girl near the playground reading a book. She decided to be brave and go talk to her. Ella introduces herself and says. The girl introduces herself as Elizabeth Silverstone. Elizabeth looked sick, her skin was pale white and her eyes looked like she was not alive whenever you looked into them. But Ella didn't mind as long as they could be friends. Over the days, they became bffs, walked to school and walked home together. They were inseparable. One day Ella went down to the kitchen while her parents were out and found a small crack on the floor and she could see something shiny on the inside. So she pulled off the floorboard and to her surprise it was the keys! She thought that maybe she could open the locks on the giant safe in her closet. Every key worked on each lock except that now she had opened the locks she had to find the code for the padlock and that seemed impossible. Her parents came home and Ella had to tell her mother but her mom didn't take it the way Ella thought that she would. Ella was told never to go to that safe again. The next day Ella was sorrowful. Just when she was about to leave for school, her parents told her to stay home while her mother and father went out to get groceries. Ella kept finding numbers in odd places, like the bathroom toilet, the sink, in the backyard. After she collected all the numbers, she went back to the safe in her closet and put in the code. By her surprise, the vault opened and it was a tunnel. Ella crawled through the tunnel and it led to a small room that for some reason didn't smell too good inside.
Chapter 2 The Pathway
Ella doesn't like the smell of the inside of the safe. What could smell so bad? Ella thought that maybe her mom was hiding something. While Ella is inside the small room that was behind the safe door, she sees mold and a whole other bunch of stuff on the wall. Is that blood! Ella says there is a shelf on the wall, but Ella can't see that well since the shelf was so high. Ella realizes that in the wall a brick is sticking out, so she decides to pull it on. And wouldn't ya know, the whole wall was tumbling down? When Ella got up from the floor she saw that a hidden pathway was right behind that very wall. Could Ella be doing the wrong thing or should she be doing what she thinks is an adventure? She decides to walk the pathway and sees a whole bunch of different stuff: chains, cages, and even a bat. Ella is very confused and decides to call Elizabeth over. When Elizabeth arrives she looked happier. Her skin was glowing and she was just a normal kid. Look what I found. Elizabeth lets go on an adventure, Ella says. But Elizabeth is not so sure she wants to go throw with this But as a good friend she does anyway Elizabeth Said that she has to get something as in go get a friend to go down with her named Jacob. The three kids go further and further down into the tunnel they see a shadow wandering but they didn't think much of it. Until something stops them whiles they are trying to get to a mysterious young woman on the floor. They looked closer at the shadow and realized that it had been the woman lying on the floor they tried to get closer but the shadow just kept blocking them.
Chapter 3 The Final standing
They finally get past the shadow and run while they still can not know that the shadow is going at the speed of light right behind them. They managed to get back into Ella's house before it could reach them. Well that was a thrill, Ella says, while Elizabeth and Jaco walked out of Ella's front door. Ella's mom," Says my darling, I should have told you sooner but I guess it is not the time. Ella is confused but still sits on the table while the mother explains something about the family history that happened many years ago. Ella, you used to have a brother. His name was Mark, but before you were born he went to jail for murdering a woman in this very house. Ella is shocked after what she had just told her MOM. HOW COULD YOU NOT TELL ME THAT I HAD A BROTHER I WOULD UNDERSTOOD! Ella calms down and replaces Ella's mom. Ella, you need to seal away the evil shadow forever. You need to do what's right. The woman that was murdered did not deserve what happened to her. Seal away the shadow and we shall be safe once more, Ella's mom replied. Ella decides to go back down to the dungeon where the woman was found. She decides to carry the body knowing that the shadow was right next to her. Ella comes with the body downstairs and outside she takes it to the top of a hill and gives the woman a proper funeral. The shadow of the woman smiles and fades away.
