Pt.6

Back on the ship, she slammed into the co-pilots seat, avoiding my gaze.

"I was only trying to keep you safe."

"You obviously didn't trust me enough to do it myself, why would you even take me on a mission if you don't view me as your equal? You know... I've been doing this for way longer than I've known you." The ice in her voice broke to a more sad sounding tone with her last line.

oh

"I didn't mean it like that, Y/N.... I'm sorry" I mumbled, embarrassed that I was so ignorant to the fact of why exactly she was upset.

"What else could you have meant by it?"

She was staring out of the windshield, face like a sheet of beskar.

"I... I just... I felt like I was responsible for protecting you."

"Well you're not. I can handle myself" she spat "I bet you wish you just took me in, you obviously see me as dead weight."

"Don't say that. You don't know anything about how I feel." I snapped.

"How you feel" she questioned with the same spit of venom in her tone

"Forget it." I sighed, sitting in my own pilots seat.

"Screw you" she mumbled.

"Do you not understand the favors I've done for you?" I spat back at her, the words hurt coming out because I knew I didn't hold anything against her... I was just angry.

"Well, you can be free of my fucking burden now then" She said with a sarcastically cold tone as she picked up her small amount of belongs and headed for the exit "Keep the damn bounty, Mando, I dont care at this point."

"Din."

Her head whipped back, obviously taken off guard, "What?"

"My name... its Din. Din Djarin."

She scoffed and rolled her eyes, her ego not letting her turn to stay now.

I watched her walk off and I felt hot tears of rage and hatred for myself swell in my eyes.

even angry, she looked beautiful.

"Wait." I called out, standing now and moving to follow her.

no one has ever made me beg before

"Leave me alone... Din" she said my name in a mocking way... of all the times I had imagined my name on her lips... it was never like this.

"C'mon, please. Look,...I've never begged for anyone to stay like this" I chuckled, trying to hide the embarrassment in my voice.

She turned, glaring at me now, and pointed her finger into my chest, "if you ever do that again, Din Djarin, I will leave you so fast that the damn helmet with come spinning off of your head."

I couldn't help but smile, watching how adorable she looked, and the way that I could feel her finger on my armor. I was grateful she couldn't see my face because the smile would just feel like a taunt.

I just nodded and she nodded back and after a minute her signature smirk crept its way back onto her lips.

"You like me being here... huh?"

"Shut up" I grumbled, walking by her side back to the razor crest.

She knows how to get me every single time.

"Listen... I know we only started on this bounty... but I want to take you somewhere."

"Um... okay" she said, a curious smile gracing her beautiful lips.

The planet was stunning and the gentle warmth of its suns and breeze felt like a blessing.

I couldn't help but leave him standing in the ships entrance as I ran to the meadow and laid in its flowers.

He walked slowly over, sitting next to me, watching me soak in as much happiness as I could get.

"Do you ever miss playing? Like a child?" I asked, "I know we both were pretty much robbed of it but...".

"I don't think anyone's ever asked me that before" He replied with a soft chuckle, staring down at his gloved hands.

I smiled.

"Well I don't think anyones ever asked me my favorite color before, but I know I could answer."

"Whats your favorite color" he asked me, softly. I had never heard so much kindness in his voice, even if it was modulated.

"Green" I said thoughtfully, "Like mountains and meadows, Whats yours?"

"Youre really good at asking me questions I've never had to answer before" he sighed and I could hear the smile in his voice.

"Well, what is it?"

"Maybe blue... like the sky, or the way beskar looks when the sky reflects on it... it's peaceful."

I hummed in satisfaction.

"And I do... I do miss it."

"Playing?" I asked, looking for clarity in his often cryptic answers.

"Yes." He replied, continuing to look down and play with the long grass that surrounded us.

Seeing him like this... innocent.... Made my heart ache.

I'd do anything to protect the little boy he once was.

I moved closer to him, nudging him enough for him to lose balance slightly.

"What are you doing?" He asked seriously, but I could hear the hint of amusement.

I shrugged my shoulder. "Playing I guess."

The scenery that surrounded us, once still and serene, was now filled with my screams of laughter and it whipped around me as I ran, Him chasing me.

We finally were just.... Human. Together.

The weight of anger left my shoulders.

He finally caught up to me and tackled me to the soft earth.

Both of our hearts were pounding and I couldn't wipe the smile off of my face or the laughter in my voice.

He stared down at me, pinning me down with soft grass beneath me.

It felt right.

Seemingly embarrassed, he got off from on top of me and mumbled a sort of apology I guess.

I smirked, sprinting towards his now defenseless back and jumped onto him.

He was obviously taken by surprise, noted by his laugh, his beautiful laugh, but his body reacted as if I were as light as a feather landing on his shoulder.

He walked, letting me enjoy the view from his shoulders where my hands clung.

He commented on the scenery and I agreed in simple hums and nods because all I could really focus on was him.
