A dark and stormy night creeps up in the small town of Glowsville, Levi; a young man, only twenty four is laying in bed forcing himself to go to sleep. Tossing, and turning he finally gets up in frustration as the thunder outside wouldn't let him sleep. "I can't keep on doing this, I'm losing my mind" Levi's voice cracks as he walks to the bathroom. Every place in his house gives him anxiety, the constant reminder of what was haunts him. When Levi was seventeen he decided to take care of his ill aunt Monica. Monica was like a mother to Levi, someone who constantly cared for him, gave him meaning, she was his mother when every other family member abandoned them.
Levi walks into the bathroom, and turns the water on washing his face, looking at his pale complexion in the mirror in front of him. This has become a routine almost nightly, two am would hit, and he still wouldn't be asleep. All the trauma was catching up to Levi, and he was breaking more, and more each night. "Therapy isn't working, I don't feel like this damn medication is working, nothing is working." He frantically repeats to himself in front of the mirror. When Levi was twenty two, he lost his aunt. After years of watching her decline, years of taking care of her, she lost the battle to her illness, she died. For the next two years after Levi struggled with more than just grief, he struggled with trying to survive. When Levi was young his dad died in a accident, and a few years after that his mom left to restart her life. Monica was the only family member who cared about him, she gave him a second chance at life. So when Monica got sick, Levi quit school, to take care of her full time. This schedule he took would eventually mess him up, would give him insomnia, and no amount of medicine could fix that.
Levi walks back to his bedroom, contemplating something sinister, something drastic. "Tomorrow's the day, it has to happen" Levi angrily tells himself. The years of loss, the years of abuse, and the years of chaos has finally caught up. Throughout his life he had no friends, that is except for the imaginary friends he would create to never feel alone. He would call these imaginary friends Whims, there would be tall whims, small whims, hell there would be half dragon, half unicorn whims. These whims kept Levi happy, when his mom left they threw him a surprise party to cheer him up. But like most kids, year after year those whims would slowly disappear. When he was fourteen, the last whim Ellie, a whim with the perfect blonde hair, and fairest complexion who could lift the world for Levi finally disappeared. This destroyed Levi, the world he built, the friends he made collapsed before him.
Levi's alarm rang, he got a good three hours of sleep, but in his head it didn't matter, today was the day, he finally made that decision. He walks out the door, not even thinking about cleaning up, his brunette hair didn't need to be clean. He starts walking, there's a secluded bridge not that far from his house. A walk that's only fifteen minutes started feeling like an eternity to Levi. You never know how much can flood back to you when your mindset is at an all time low. "No thoughts, just actions " Levi kept on telling himself. The bridge appeared on the horizon as Levi walked closer and closer, no one in sight. Making it to his destination, he sighs, it's time. Levi slowly walks to the edge of the bridge, one foot after the other he steps off the bridge.
A hand reaches out a grabs Levi, holding him place already off the bridge. "What the hell are you doing!!" A voice yells, a voice very familiar to Levi. He slowly looks up, and what he sees leaves him astonished. "Ellie?" Levis voice cracks trying to get the words out. Ellie pulls Levi back onto the bridge, patting his shoulders and hugging him. "Are you okay, why would you think of doing that" She says concerned still hugging him. "I....I... it's" Levi couldn't get the words out he was in complete shock. I have a lot of questions myself "Ellie proclaims. "But that's going to have to wait, we have to talk about something important" She lets go of the hug and starts to walk away.
