"we weren't alone out there. there was something in those woods—something in the air. and it was haunting us. screaming at us to do it's bidding. maybe we were all just losing it, or maybe that place was truly evil."
LENNON AND JUNIPER SAWYER were born nine minutes apart. Two twin babies, brought into the world on June 8th, during a horrific Californian storm. Their mother, Jackie Sawyer had been hysterical during the labour, begging the doctors not to let 'It' take her babies. They had put her incoherent ramblings down as exhaustion, but everyone in that room had known what Jackie Sawyer had gone through only three years before—it was impossible not to, it had been worldwide news.
The Coral Bay Pirates soccer team of '98 had been on a plane crash after winning Nationals. The teenagers had been stranded on an uninhabited island and had survived alone for two months before finally being rescued. The reason it became such big news was due to the media spreading rumours on what had happened on that island—some wrote they resorted to cannibalism, others said they used witchcraft to survive. But none of the teenagers ever spoke about what happened, not even when when they were hounded by news reporters and offered money to speak up on what had truly happened on the island. Some of them had been alive when they crashed—and then suddenly they weren't. And the world wanted to know the reason why.
Growing up, Lennon and Juniper were always asked questions about their mother, how she had survived, what it was like living on a deserted island for two months and if she truly was an Island Witch. The girls couldn't give answers. It's wasn't like their mom ever sat them down and talked about her trauma—she would rather down a bottle of wine and pretend it never happened than to open up about the horrific event. The only time people stopped with their questions was when Jackie suddenly passed away. Those questions became condolences and the town of Coral Bay pretending like they felt the same grief of the twins, as if they hadn't made Jackie's life a living nightmare.
The two girls handled their grief separately. Lennon worked harder in school and gained the title of Captain of the Coral Bay Pirates—just like her mother. She spent time with her friends, aced every test and made sure to be as kind as her mother had always been. Juniper on the other hand slipped into a darkness she couldn't quite pull herself from. She bleached her naturally dark hair, started wearing too much eyeliner and fixed her problems by drinking and doing drugs. The twins couldn't have been more different.
But the one thing that brought them closer was something they could never had prepared for—never have expected. When Juniper's penalty kick won them a spot at Nationals, the private jet crashed into the abyss—just like the '98 Pirates had. It was something that shouldn't have been possible. It was so unlikely that the same team would suffer the same fate decades apart. But soon, the teenagers found themselves walking in the same footsteps their mother had, but not in the way they had ever expected. They now had to survive the island—and the darkness that resided within.
"i'm not fucking crazy, alright? you all have to listen to me! listen to me! this place... it's wrong. i can feel it. it's so very, fucking wrong."
— lennon sawyer."so, this is what we do now? worship this fucking island? fuck that! it's an island, it isn't human, it can't control us."
— juniper sawyer."i think this is what it wants. blood—in its name. it wants us to shed blood."
— brooklyn bishop."i'm seeing things again and i'm scared. i'm seeing things that aren't there and i—i am so fucking scared."
— lennon sawyer."i am not participating in this voodoo shit, it's ridiculous. have fun talking to the trees you bunch of weirdos."

This book will contain graphic content, such as: gore, foul language, sexual themes, death, mental health themes, violence and many more. If this isn't suitable for you, then please, do not feel the need to read this book! Otherwise, enjoy the journey these girls go on :))).AUTHORS NOTE.
So, I've had this story idea since about 2021 and I've just never got around to actually writing it! But after watching more of Yellow Jackets, I finally have the inspiration to write the stories of these bunch of girls! One thing I will say in advance, is that these characters are all pretty complex and they will be WRONG in many situations. They are not perfect characters and are VERY flawed, but that's the whole point. This book is my own original writing, just inspired by some of my favourite shows like, Lost, The Wilds and Yellow Jackets! Basically anything involving plane crashes and survival. It is completely my own except for where I pulled the inspiration from! Also, the chapters will be longer than the usual chapter on Wattpad because the book is originally written in book format on Google Docs but I transfer it onto Wattpad! I'll try to shorten them down but otherwise, they will be pretty long and I hope that's alright! But I have nothing else to say other than I hope y'all enjoy reading this book as much as I enjoy writing it!
