                                       ********Chapter One********

"Two minutes." Dan's worried voice crackled through my ear peace.

Here I was hanging from a very tall building. And he was worried, about me? Absolutely not. Dan, a narcissistic, rude, and a downright jerk of a man, was worried about the mission. As he always was. Not a thought to my safety, here I was hanging of a building over a flippin' precipice.

"Oh I'm doing fine, thanks, for asking." I seethed sarcasticly through clenched teach "I'll make it in time" I growled smugly adding, "I always do". Grabbing another crack in the Wall structure, I let out on final swing and threw myself on top of the building.

Breathing a sigh of relief, tucking my unruly chestnut hair behind my ear, I looked curiously down the side of the old building. It was evening and foggy. So much so, I couldn't see the bottom. Turning away only to have my attention recaptured by a soft strangled cry coming from below. My trained ears had barely caught it.

"Dan, any movement below?" I whispered softly

"Keep your head in the game lissa" he prodded "We're taking care of the ground level, Remember? Or Do we need to go back over your part here?"

"Jeez, Someone's got there panties in a bunch." I tittered "Besides, I thought I heard something." I growled angrily "Oh, and Dan? Don't be so familiar, it's Melissa to you" I cooed snippishly.

"T-minus 1 1/2 minutes" he snapped making me lauph.

"Don't be such I wuss" still snickering, I continued on my route. Stealthily, I crept across the roof top. I took in a deep breath, I loved being up so high, It made me feel so tall. I truly hated how short I was, but it came in handy on many occasions.

I stood in front of the building core cooling vent. Grabbing my grappling hook I started counting. 5.. 4..3..2..1 the vent opened with a rush of hot air. No wonder it needed a vent. Having only 40 seconds I wasted no time, keeping count, I lept. I easily fit through the slots, without setting of the alarm. The feeling of the hot wind rushing through my hair was exhilarating, but the ground wouldn't be so giving. I raise my gun, now attached to my belt, shot and, thankfully, the hook snagged. I let it slow me down gradually. Once, I'd been far too quick to stop. I'd bruises on my waist for weeks. Not fun.

Finally stopping I hovered a few feet over the ground. From here should be easy. Emphasis on should; but, The idiots spent most of their resources on petty luxury, not security. Good for me, pretty bad for them. I snickered releasing the cord holding me. I landed lightly on the balls of my feet. Looking around the large aluminum circled room I found the outline of a door. I realized a big problem. No door Handle.

"You've got to be frickin' kidding! Dan, where's the damn door Nob?!" I growled, not too quietly.

Vainly I waited for a reply. "Dan?"

*Silence*

"Shoot" I mumbled. Time for plan B, picking the black circular object out of my bag, I never bother learning the real names for all the crap Dan gave me, to me it was the "the circular laser thingy". It drove him nuts, he was such a nerd. I was hoping he'd be alright. So I could throttle him for leaving me in this situation. I had told him this wasn't my kind of job. Did he listen? No, and know we've lost radio contact.

I realized I had begun to sweat; it was getting really hot. The vent had been closed for only a 1 minute and it was about get much worse. It would be another 10 minutes till the vents opened again. By that time I would be a charred beyond belief.
