Chapter 1 - Return To The House That Started It All
Peter Pevensie stepped on a large red bus, placing his fare into the collector booth and sitting down at an empty seat. He brushed his dirty blond hair out of his eyes and leaned back in his seat. Exhausted from the long day at school. Other students that attended his school, Hendon's House were also on the bus talking with their mates about their plans for the weekend. A few girls from the sister school, Branksome, were on the bus as well.
Peter pulled his brown leather bag over his shoulder and placed it on the bus floor by his feet. The sun shined brightly through the glass windows of the bus, hitting him in the face making him squint. It was nice that it was finally sunny outside. Winter had just ended, as well did all the cold and wet weather. Germany wasn't the ideal place if you're looking for nice weather.
The bus started to move, slowly making its self down the wet road. Peter started blinking more often, struggling to keep his eye's open. He yawned a few times but assured himself not to fall asleep.
Peter had never been on the bus before, he was taking a new route because him and his siblings were going away for the weekend, exited to leave Germany. Peter had to make sure he didn't miss his stop that would take him to a train station.
After a few bus stops- which seemed more then a few minutes- two girls stepped of the bus giggling. At this point the bus had almost emptied itself. One of the girls peered over her shoulder and glanced at Peter, then turned back to her friend and continued to laugh.
At Hendon's House and Branksome, Peter Pevensie was not well known. Most of his time was spent doing homework or reading, not socializing with the other students. Nobody seemed to try and make themselves part of his life, which didn't really matter. Peter wasn't interested with his life in Germany, as he had a much more exiting one somewhere else.
A girl a year younger then Peter stepped on the bus at the next stop, greeting the bus driver and giving him her fare. She turned to Peter, smiling. Not a mean smile like the girls before, but a friendly one.
The girl walked over and sat next to Peter. Her silky dark brown hair flopped around as she walked. The girl placed her purse on her lap and checked it, making sure it was closed properly.
"Have you heard from Edmund or Lucy?" The girl said. Her emerald eyes stuck out from her pale, freckeless face. This 16 year old Branksome student was known as Susan Pevensie, Peter's sister.
He shook his head and looked out the bus window to see if they were insight. Edmund and Lucy were also their siblings; Edmund was 15, a year younger then Peter and Lucy was 13. Despite their age difference, the Pevensie children were much emotionally closer then any other normal siblings. They depended on one and other for anything. And for Peter, aside from a few of his friends, they were the only thing he had. The other Pevensie children had more friends then him, but for the most part they only had each other.
When Peter was 13, him and his siblings had been shipped off to live in Germany without their parents. A war had started in England that requested immediate departure, they could not refuse.
When the children first arrived in Germany, they were sent to stay at a manor run by Professor Digory Kirke. No other children lived in the mansion and they had rare contact with any adults except maids and staff that worked at the manor. Once Peter turned 15, the children were moved to live with their Aunt Helen and Uncle Simon, whom they rarely saw. However it was preferable to a manor that was more like a museum. The rules there had been extremely strict.
As the bus pulled up to it's next stop, two more children climbed on the bus. The first one had strawberry brown hair, almost red. She too had freckles unlike Susan, however her hair was shoulder length and she was much shorter. The second one was a taller then the girl, but not by much. He had dark brown hair that swooped neatly across his forehead and dark brown, almost black piercing eyes. Lucy and Edmund Pevensie.
