Narnia / Chapter 5 - A Few Hundred Years Later Peter and Lucy Pevensie plodded on the new fallen fresh white snow. The crunching sound of the snow compressing underneath their slippers was the loudest sound echoing around them.
The sun was still at it's midst of rising, glistening on the ice and snow. There was no sign of action accept for the two siblings making foot prints in the snow.
They shortly arrived at an open area that clear cut a perfect circle of trees. In the middle rose a tall, black lamppost. It's curved, metal designs looks hand made. Although the paint was chipping off, the structure looked stunning. At the top, a useless light shinned down on Lucy and Peter.
"Mr. Tumnis's lamp post." Lucy said, lightly touching it. Once more, Peter remained silently sorrow as the two continued to walk through the forest.
It was strange, being in Narnia for almost an hour now and not once had Peter or Lucy passed an animal. Normally, given any season time, the forests were crowded with squirrels searching for nuts, bees buzzing around for nectar, birds tweeting in the trees and deer prancing on the mossy floor. But there was none of that.
With each anxious step that was took, expecting an animal to jump out, resulted in the two siblings who started to question weather their safeness was unsealed.
Finally, Lucy broke the suspense by asking the unknown question. "Where is everyone?" She whispered.
Peter opened his mouth. Suddenly, a snapping noise carried over to them. They looked at each other in alarm.Swiftly, Peter jumped and covered his hand over Lucy's mouth. He pulled the two of them to the ground behind a bush. The two stayed quiet, attentively surveying the woods.
Moments passed, they saw nothing. Until another sound arose from the forest. Peter became more alert as footsteps in the snow came closer to the two siblings. They didn't sound like human steps though. It confused the two, but it didn't reduce their badgering.
Lucy looked at Peter nervously. He nodded in return, hopefully calming her down a bit. Peter found it strange they were hiding from a possible threat in Narnia. It was obvious that in their absence, much had changed.
Narnia didn't feel the same way it did before - magical, royal, safe.
As the footsteps drew closer, Peter positioned himself so he was able too see all around him and Lucy. The footsteps were heavy, clomping noises crushing the soft snow. A dark brown horse drew out of the forest, into view swiftly. It had on black and silver armour that blended with the rider's suit.
Horses ran freely in Narnia, they didn't have amour on themselves unless they were going into a fight. It was obvious to Peter and Lucy that something was certainly wrong.
On the horse's back sat a man wearing a hunk of metal chains that made up his armour. He carried a dirty blue shield that bared an eight pointed star. It was an unknown symbol to the siblings, which scared them both.
The man had on a thick metal mask which covered his face, revealing only eye and mouth holes. The heavy metal accented the eye brows, long moustache and pointed beard on the mask. A metal acorn hat was melted to the top of the mask, making the man undistinguishable.
The horse's gallop slowed to a trot, then stopped all together 10 feet from Peter and Lucy. They shifted, hoping the gazing man wouldn't notice them. Lucy's silent eyes follow the man as he guided his horse, searching around the small area of wood.
After aimlessly searching, the man and horse took off into a canter into the woods. Peter unclamped his hand from Lucy's mouth as she breathed in heavily.
