Stupid.

Idiot.

What the hell have I done.

Give me the world's worst friend award.

She disconnected, at least it seemed that way as the green dot next to her name turned gray.

-Bradley sorry, I'm here now, the call took longer than I thought- Chris appeared through the door, one elbow resting on the frame and a big smile on his face.

Bradley was petrified staring at the screen, he immediately lowered it a little and looked away from his friend.

-No, it's okay, did something happen?

- You're not going to believe me- Chris put his hand on his forehead.

Neither will you.

-Are you going to tell me or not? - he spat with annoyance growing in him.

-All right, all right, don't get mad, man! - Chris ran his hands over his face and raised his arms in victory mode-They promoted me, man! They did it! -he exclaimed excitedly.

Bradley shut his mouth as soon as he realized he was hanging very noticeably-Wow, ehmm...Congrats, I think you deserve it- He got up from the bed a little to reciprocate the hug his friend was already giving him. He looked very happy, something about the subject had told him days ago, it was only a matter of days before the news would be confirmed.

He had to be happy for her friend, he had to be. But he didn't avoid thinking that he wanted that, he also needed some professional achievement to be proud of. When on his side, he was about to quit his current job. Someday...

-Thanks buddy, apparently my proposal was better and I finally got the job. It will be more work and harder, but that salary is worth it. God, I won't see you anymore and....

- Good for me- Bradley comments sarcastically and Chris punches him in the arm jokingly. They both laugh, but in part, Bradley did welcome more alone time while Chris would have to have a longer schedule and, hopefully, more work travel. Quiet vacation at last.

-Well, I'm going to sleep, I start tomorrow and aaaah- he left the room excited.

-Chris your lapt... -he didn't finish speaking because of the sound of the door closing. Bradley opened his friend's laptop quickly. It wasn't hard to figure out the password, it was clearly going to be his birthday. It seems that the older people get the less they care about this kind of security as long as they don't forget how to log in. Or they just don't want to complicate it and think about it too much.

The first thing that popped up was the screen where you left off, the message box. Only when I clicked on chat, nothing appeared, no messages sent.

But what?

For a moment he thought it was all a figment of his imagination, none of this happened and finally this time he didn't screw anything up.

Even as a ray of light coming through the window in the morning pierced him at the moment. He saw the time:

12:04 pm

"All messages are deleted within 24 hours, nothing is saved." He remembered what Chris said.

Now it made sense, at least he had some luck that night and his friend would never realize the chaos he caused. Well yes, he would realize that the girl he "liked" would never speak to him again and if Chris tried the conversation would not be pleasant. The last time he had messed up some of his friend's plans it hadn't ended so well, he was impulsive at times. It only happened once, it was an accident when he almost spilled some coffee on Chris's cell phone while his boss was calling him insistently, which he regretted very much when his friend almost broke his entire collection of vinyl and old movies. Hopefully he managed to calm him down, but he would never want to repeat such an experience.
