[ Back At Daemos ]
Lady Grandma wandered through the dimly lit palace halls, passing by the occasional cage of flames. She came to a stop when she came across yelling from the end of the hall, which proved to be her grandson, Prince Rhal banging on Asch's bedroom door. His wife, Lady Bish accompanying him at his side.
"Asch! Asch! Brother!!" Rhal yells again, his voice echoing through the hallway as his fist the second born princes' door.
"Perhaps he's asleep?" Said Lady Bish, to which he retorted, "At such a time as this? He should well know his place."
She smiled, "Well then, my dear. Maybe you should remind him~?"
"You're right.." Rhal turned back to the door, "Come out, lesser heir of the Great Daemos Empire! and royal pain in my-"
"Asch. Asch, are you there?" Lady Bish interrupted, her voice much calmer than her husbands. He, on the other hand didn't bother to match her tone and continued to call out, "Brother! Open up!"
"Oooh.. perhaps he simply can't hear your knocking?~" Lady Grandma said sarcastically. Rhal scoffed as he turned to face her, "I've been knocking loud enough that the whole castle could hear me!"
"mmmm.. maybe, just maybe, Asch isn't in there?" The former queen suggested innocently, though Rhal simply brushed it off. "Nonsense, he's supposed to be in there getting ready." Rhal said, and then proceeded to hit the door again, "open up!"
Lady Bish turned to the former queen with an insincere, sweet smile as she curtsied, "Lady Grandma, a pleasure to see you on this fine day."
"Hold your tongue, I don't need respect from you." Lady Grandma retorted with a roll of her eyes.
"Oh, that's not fair grandmother," Lady Bish cooed as she repositioned herself. "You must've woken up on the wrong side of the bed this morning."
"Did I give you permission to call me 'grandmother'?" Lady Grandma scoffed. In the background, Rhal's volume increased as his anger fueled.
"Oh come now, I've been married to Rhal for many moons. Why won't you accept me as part of your fa- " Her question was cut off by Rhals continuous volume, "Oh, would you stop that excessive banging?!"
"Agghhh, he's not coming out!" Rhal huffed, narrowing his eyes. "He must not be inside..."
Both Lady Grandma and Bish both gave him a dumbfounded look, seeing as they'd tried to tell him that.
"Mee maw, Asch is set to attend the crisis summit in two hours, and he's not here! He will be punished for his not being here!" Rhal scowled.
"Oh? Now, where ever could he be?" Lady Grandma questioned, her tone light.
"I don't suppose you know?" Bish queried with another of her insincere smiles, "We've been ever so worried.."
Lady Grandma simply laughed. "Oh, I'm just a cute old lady! I can't possibly keep up with you youths. Who knows where any of my grandchildren have run off to? Certainly not me..."
"Mee-maw, if Asch doesn't go to the summit, I have to go to the summit! And if I have to go to the summit, then- I have to- you know, be there!" Rhal pouted.
"A crown prince's work includes attending summits." Lady Grandma stated clearly, no hints of sympathy for her grandson in her voice.
"Even-"
"Yes, even the boring ones." She cut him off.
Lady Bish cleared her throat, and the older woman looked to her. "Perhaps ... I could attend my darlings meeting in his stead?" She offered smoothly.
