"Stop!" Hope screeched as another fist came lashing past her lips. Julienne, Hope's mother if anything, had been screaming at Hope for the past hour while Chris, the father, threatened the very existence of this poor 14 year old girl huddling in a corner. It hadn't always been this way though. There was a time when she could call her parents 'mom and dad' in public. There was a time when the smell of various drugs didn't fumigate the house. There was a time when the words 'mother' and 'father' meant love. All of this was long since a simple memory... Or dream that lasted the first 10 years of her life. A dream that felt like angels whispering songs of strength and perseverance in her times of need. The times when beer bottles weren't a constant danger of dodging.
