Glinda finally found time to breathe. It was the day of her engagement ball, and the preparations for the night had been driving her crazy. She should be happy. She's the one who made this happen. She wanted this. It had been part of her plans for so long. And still, she didn't feel like she wanted this. Something else was occupying her mind.
It was the day of her engagement ball with Fiyero, and all Glinda could think about was Elphaba.
She had probably thought of her every day since their parting, but lately she had been able to think less about her. She truly thought getting engaged with Fiyero would help, but apparently she was wrong. Her mind kept drifting off to the past, to a time where things were simpler - or at least, a time when she still had her.

Elphaba did go back to the room, after all. Galinda (who was half laying on her bed, upside down) talked to her
- "Oh, you're back! Where did you have to go with such urgency anyways? Especially at this hour"
She stood awkwardly in front of the door
- "I- ...For a moment. I forgot I still have to change. And that classes don't start for a few hours."
The blonde girl stood up, skipped to her side and hugged her
- "Elphiee! You're too obsessed with classes!" - Then, muffled by the other's hair - "Try to relax for a bit, it's just us here."
The taller hugged her back
- "Alright. I'll try."
Suddenly Galinda broke apart
- "Oh! I have an idea!"
- "Another one?"
- "Since I helped you, I thought you could help me too. Actually, we'd be helping each other."
- "How so?"
She had already hopped back to the bed
- "Well... I'm with Fiyero now, and I thought you could help me practice kissing. That way you'd practice for whoever you date in the future too."
- "You're drunk."
- "I'm not!
Okay, maybe I am a little bit, but what does it have to do with it?"
Elphaba sat on her own bed
- "You don't mean it."
The shorter girl was starting to get frustrated
- "But I do! Elphaba, why are you making such a big deal out of this?"
- "Are you sure? Are you sure that, if I agree, you won't make fun of me to your friends later?"
Galinda moved to sit next to her green friend.
- "Elphie. Of course not. You're my friend now. More than Pfanee and Shenshen. I won't make fun of you."
Then, nodding, she said:
- "Okay. It's just so you'll practice for Fiyero, right?"
- "Of course, what else would it be for?"
- "Okay."
And then she sat there, tense. Galinda found it endearing
- "You really can't relax, can you?"
That got the littlest bit of a nervous nose laughter from Elphaba. The blonde girl brushed a lock of raven hair behind a green ear before connecting their lips. She had kissed boys before, but nothing had felt like that. This felt electrifying, it nearly made her feel dizzy.
