Wait for Me

Chloe -- Questions

Chloe jerked to a start when she heard her Rotom buzzing.

"Ro-to-tom...you have one message from Goh." That alerted her. Goh? Why would he be texting me right before bed? She realized the 2 she was writing looked more like a scribble because her pencil slipped. Busy solving a math problem was not how she pictured the scenario where he answered her question.

She reached for her phone, then hesitated. Did she really want to know what he said?

Suddenly Chloe felt embarrassed. There's no way he'll speak to me after this!

But...surely he thought something important if he texted her. She took the risk and looked at the message.

Hi Chloe

Chloe read the line again and again, waiting for something more to appear. She didn't know what she felt. He was finally reaching out to her, and all he said was "hi?" She might have been confused, disappointed, sad, and maybe a little bit angry.

"He has to say more," she said aloud. Right?

She set her Rotom face down on the table. Trying not to get her hopes up, she thought that he would be more likely to say something else if she wasn't looking at the screen.

She stared at her unfinished math problem, then glanced at the phone. Still nothing.

Maybe...he's busy?

Chloe laid her head down, knowing the homework would remain incomplete. She wondered if she responded, he would add more.

She tucked the piece of paper in her folder and slid it into her bag. Homework didn't matter now. Goh does. Chloe smiled when she said Hi back.

The next response was almost instant. So obviously he did care.

Chloe reddened. He read it. He knew what she thought. But why wasn't he mentioning what was on the card?

Fear began to creep into her heart. 

Does he not feel the same way?
