The festive atmosphere inside the hall was brought about by the brightness and colorful lanterns accompanied by musical instruments that were played on the stage.

"I work here, and to some noble families, especially the family of rank officials"

The young boy said this with question on his face. As if he knew that Alice knew him before?

"How old are you?" Alice asked

"I am 16 years old. Why have you asked Princess?" The young boy wanted to know, but Alice asked him instead answering his question.

"How many years did you work here?"

"Since then, it's been almost two years now. Seems like you want to know me, princess?" the young boy said.

"Oh, sorry, I just remember someone that I met somewhere; maybe it's not you."
Alice replied, and the young one nodded at her as a sign of leaving her front.

Alice Marasigan let him leave and looks at the splendor and the throngs of people in the big hall. Never pay attention to the young boy, but she already had a hunch about what kind of creature the young boy was.

Alice eyes scanned the crowd and splendidly memorized all their faces. But because she was too focused on them, she forgot the proper etiquette for greeting the noble family in the pack. It made her commit a lot of mistakes.

Behind her, Lea is secretly cursed inside her mind with her mistakes, which would surely cause the noble and ranked officials of the kingdom to look down on the Marasigan family even more. Unfortunately, there was nothing she could do. Alice paid no heed to the concealed disdain directed at her and chose to take a seat in a quiet corner. She was diligently observing all the people who came to the celebration, while Lea could only stand by her side, worrying.

"The Mendrez family has arrived."

The eunuch's announcement, which was made by Alice, made her lift her head once more. She could see a group of people coming in.

At the front is a middle-aged man with a scholarly aura, Aldrex Marasigan, Alice's father. Walking beside him was his mate and wife, Fiona Mendrez. On this rare occasion, only the official wives and children can attend the party.

Alice Marasigan stared at them indifferently. She didn't have much recollection of this noble male shifter, but she knew that he was her father.

All these years, he never once visited her, not even when the Marasigan family's adoptive son, Janus Marasigan, achieved great success on the battlefield. He continued on with his facade.

"Leah, do you know what kind of shifters I hate so much?"

"My princess...?"

Alice stared at Aldrex Marasigan.

"It is the kind of a man that neglects his father for another woman and throws aside his own daughter," she prompted.

Knowing that Alice talked about her father, Lea didn't dare say anything. She had followed her princess Alice for five years, and naturally, she had come to know a lot about her life before she went into the Marasigan family. It was the kind of life that she herself never wanted to experience.

Alice's presence was easily forgotten; however, at that moment, a particular young lady walked towards her. Alice stared at the girl with a frown. What could she possibly want from her?

"Alice Marasigan, why don't you join the others?" A very small girl asked with a smile. She has the blood of a wolf. Alice can smell it. She has the ability to identify the blood of a wolf and a vampire, specially humans.

Alice raised her head and saw a fifteen-year-old girl standing before her. This girl was incredibly attractive, with fair skin and red cherry lips. Her dimples on both sides of her cheeks were showing, and her long eyelashes framed a pair of eyes that curled into a crescent moon whenever she smiled.

It took Alice some time before she remembered the girl's name, Amihan. She was the first daughter of the Mendrez family; however, she was a concubine. Considering her age, it won't be long before she is looking for her mate. All girls dreamed of marrying their perfect mate, and Janus Marasigan, Alice's adoptive brother, was among those on top of their lists.

Alice pursed her lips. How could she not know this girl's real intention? But it won't do her any good if she refuses outright.

"Hmm. Thank you, Sister Amihan, but Brother Janus is not interested in this kind of party," Alice answered softly. Her small voice may have been hard to hear, but it was truly pleasing to the ear.

Amihan Mendrez was stunned when she heard that melodious voice. Alice's voice was very soft and endearing. Coupled with her fair skin and lovely eyes, even Amihan had to admit that this girl was astonishingly beautiful. Those so-called attractive girls in front of Janus were nothing to compare.

"How about I introduce you to my friends?" Amihan asked.

"But I don't want any trouble, Sister Amihan."

Amihan smiled softly. Although her original purpose was to get closer to Janus Marasigan, her adoptive brother, Alice could not help but feel that this girl was quite adorable. She resisted the urge to pinch the girl's cheeks and held herself back, afraid of tarnishing her status.

"Silly girl, what trouble can it be? Come on, let me show you around."

Alice wore a helpless expression and obediently followed Amihan Mendrez. The other young men and women shifters who saw them thought that Alice Marasigan was indeed a weak girl.

"Look! She keeps on following her half-sister throughout the party with such obedience."

Bagalto Marasigan pretended that he didn't hear those comments. He had to hold himself back from refuting these people, for if not, he would surely shout to the whole world about the brilliance of her granddaughter, Alice. But he couldn't do just that; otherwise, their lives and plans would be in jeopardy. He was very worried about Alice.

Bagalto Marasigan sighed. Later on, his old friend talked to him. Julius Boras

"How's the legendary Beta of the pack?"
He said, as he greeted Bagalto.

"I'm still kicking."

Bagalto smiled at him, but their faces are serious now.

"I've heard that the Alpha wanted to summon all the young generals of the pack, they will be having a short meeting tomorrow, maybe he wants to test them, what can you say?"

Julius Boras continued.

Bagalto Marasigan frowned. Normally, the rank of general could not be obtained by younger people. However, in this kingdom alone, there were already three people who had attained it even before they were married. Though one of them had just been married, he was still in his early twenties, which meant he was considered among the younger generation.

Coincidentally, these three young generals also came from the three leading warrior in this kingdom. The Marasigan family once ranked first among them, but it declined severely over the years, which left them with only two capable people. One of them belonged to the younger generation. That is Janus Marasigan.

"Seems like the Alpha is still hell-bent on making my family fall."

Bagalto had deep thoughts and sighed. Once Janus passes through these challenges, the Marasigan family will thrive. Of course, that doesn't mean it will always be peaceful.

"The Alpha will soon arrive; you better go back to your seat."

The announcer finally said

Bagalto Marasigan sighed and looked at the Alpha's throne. Knowing that the Alpha would arrive, he sat there, knowing that this was his party. The eyes he used to look at the chair were undoubtedly cold.

Bagalto Marasigan knew that in this City, his family had far too many shifter enemies, and the person sitting at the highest position, the Alpha, was one of them.
