Wei Ying POV

Wiping his brow of the sweat pouring out of him from chopping wood beneath the hot afternoon sun, Wei Ying releases a long sigh. He turns his face to the sky and closes his eyes. The breeze blowing warmly over him is trying to relieve his tortured body. However, his fully soaked scarlet inner robe that he still wears only allows so much reprieve. He would have removed it as well to tease Lan Zhan even more but the scars on his body, especially the still reddish one from Zidian's brand, stopped him.

Right now, he needs his people to trust him. He needs them to believe he is strong enough to protect them from what is coming. Not even his parents know about how he was punished. Someday he'll tell them.

But that day is not today.

Wei Ying walks over to a cart that holds their food and water supplies. Dried leaves crunch under his feet, the smell of late fall floating up from their broken remains. He grabs a jar of water and pours it down his parched throat. Leaning against a nearby tree, he lets his mind wander. So many things still need to happen before they're ready for the coming war. Yet no matter how hard he tries to focus on the preparations, his thoughts always return to certain handsome Lan.

The time of their wedding is nearing quickly. Images of what might happen that night are constantly at the back of his mind. Sure, he's read spring books with very well drawn pictures. Of course he's heard stories from his friends about what girls like (he's pretty sure some are made up though).

But that's the thing.

Everything he's seen and heard is about girls. Women. Females.

He's been racking his brain about what two men do on their honeymoon. Obviously they can kiss and touch in certain places. But what comes after that? Is there more?

There has to be. Right?

The only thing he can think of is if...goes there...because that's the only...

OH MY GODS!!!

Is he supposed to stick his...in there? But that's where...EWWWW!!!!!

What if Lan Zhan wants to put his...in my...OH HELL NO!!!!! There's no way I'm letting him...uh uh!

Wei Ying suddenly realizes how terrified he is of their wedding night. Most of him knows that Lan Zhan won't do anything he doesn't want him to. Yet there's a small voice whispering to his heart that if he doesn't go all the way, their marriage will end in ruins, that Lan Zhan won't love him anymore.

A heavy weight settles on his chest, a sickening feeling rising in his stomach. He tries to swallow his fear, telling himself that Lan Zhan will love him no matter what happens or doesn't happen on their honeymoon. He tries to convince himself that it's all in his head, that he's just being silly.

Because you are, idiot! How shallow do you think Lan Zhan is? Some soulmate you are if you're worried about losing the man you love simply because you're inexperienced and scared. Has he ever hurt you before? No. Lan Zhan loves you because you're Wei Ying. You'll figure things out together like you always do.

Together. As long as we're together, everything will be fine.

Wei Ying's need to see Lan Zhan unfurls and swirls inside his heart like a drop of ink hitting water, putting his feet in motion. His desire to hold his jade explodes deep in his soul like a thousand butterflies disturbed from their perch, pushing his legs to run faster.
