Ah crap. "I'm late."
I roll out of bed with my blanket wrapped around my torso. So much for perfect first day. Today is my first day of work, in the huge city of New York, that I'm brand new to.
I told my mom moving to New York would let me accomplish my life goal of being a stay-at-home freelance writer- who lives in NYC.My mother is my number one motivator: that's a choice word, some would say she is also my number one hater, but, I just see it as tough love. So.. she's the reason I am late to "work." She insists that I don't bag on becoming an author, and that I need to be realistic and have a "real" job. So here I am, late to my first day. I quickly brush my teeth and get dressed, I chose a white crop top with grey cargo jeans and a puffer jacket, it's been chilly this week. I let my hair fall naturally down my back and do my short, but effective, make up routine.
After getting ready, I make my way out of my apartment and downstairs to the parking garage, as you know I'm running late but I don't make it to my car without bumping into someone, "Val, hey, how are you?"
"Jake.. I'm great, and also running late so i'll catch you later!" Jake gives me an awkward smile and nods. I climb into my beloved BMW and make my way to the office.
After talking to the lady at the desk, or maybe, the young, rude, girl at the desk- she finally puts it together that I do in fact have a job here. She shows me to an office that is mine and tells me to wait until my boss gets here. After minimal research of the company I work for, I can say I'm not quite sure what they do here, but I know that I deal with the CEO, his personal assistant.
After waiting what feels like ages someone comes in, without knocking I might add. He's not paying attention, He's looking down at his phone. He's quite good-looking. Everything about him screams "dark". He has dark black hair, emerald green eyes, a perfectly sculpted body, and a light stubble. "It's quite rude to barge into a room without knocking, did your mother never teach you manners?" He scowls but he still doesn't look up, "Well when you're the-" He finally looks up at me and clears his throat, he looks at me silently and shocked. "What? Cat got your tongue?"
"I'm sorry, who are you?" He asks with a slight smirk. Not to sound full of myself, but I do have quite the effect on most men. My mother says I was blessed with beauty, it can be quite helpful but also quite annoying. I smile, "The assistant you hired last week.."
"Ahhh, I see. And what's your name?""Valeria."
"Reese. Nice to meet you Valeria."
He walks over and takes my hand into his, he bends down and places a gentle kiss on it. I feel my face heating up and turning red, all my earlier confidence vanishes with him being this close.
I clear my throat and he lets out a chuckle. "So um, I was just wanting some clarification of what kind of things I'm going to be assisting you in, it didn't specify in the job offer.."
"Anything. Everything..."
How specific.I look at him without saying anything and saying my eyes, "Hm, how nice of you to specify.." He lets out a chuckle and sighs deeply.
"He walks to the door of my office and opens it, all without looking at me he walks out. My mouth gapes open, wow, great conversation, thanks for the goodbye.. I think that he left but he peeks his head back in and signals he forward with his hand. Oh, he wants me to follow him. I roll my eyes and stand up out of my comfy chair. I walk to him and he begins to walk away, I follow him down a long hallway and then we enter an elevator. It's a bit awkward just standing there silently, waiting. We finally reach his floor, yes floor, that he has to himself. "Wow, this is..."
"Beautiful." He speaks suddenly.
"Yes.." he has a soft smile on his face and opens a door with his name on it, 'Reese Romanov', he motions me inside. I take a seat on an ottoman and he briefly discusses what exactly I'll be doing for him. Basically, I'm an errand boy. Eh, easy enough, the pays great.••••
I'm exiting the office and heading to my beautiful baby, my car, as I hear the sound of cameras clicking. Yes, cameras, loudly. I hear voices yelling, and a crowd is gathering. What the heck is going on... Then I see the reason for all of the commotion.
Oh. My. God.
Standing there. There's three... three more Reese's.
