My Assignment

I sat alone in my dark room. I watched the curtains sway in the breeze of the open window. The moon was full and the light of it spilled into my room. I could hear a faint howl float along the breeze. Tonight was a most special night. It was a night where they come out. When they do I will be ready.

The immortal night walkers who thrive on blood and those whose hunger grows stronger under the full moon, the beasts known as lycan. I have been hunting their kind for centuries. I have been given the title of assassin.

I waited for that inevitable knock on my door. The one where I would get my new assignment. Tonight they will hunt and so will I. I got up and went to the drawer against the opposite side of my room. I pulled the top drawer open to reveal my vast array of weapons. All of them are made of silver. It's the only thing that is fatal to my enemy.

My fingers run along the blade of my favorite knife. It was a thirteen inch fighting knife with rubies in the hilt. The silver blade caught the light of the moon coming in from my window. It is so incredibly beautiful. I stored it inside my jacket in its sheath. On the other side was a gun. It's something I rarely use because I prefer hand to hand combat where I can watch the life drain from their eyes.

Knock knock

I smiled. Finally, it is time. I go to my door and open it to reveal one of the coven leaders, Bible.

"Here is the target. He is the new pack leader. His name is Mile Phakphum. He has ordered a massacre at one of the big clubs. Him and his pack will slaughter a few hundred humans." He handed me a picture of this lycan dressed in a scarlet suit.

"Red is my favorite color."  I stored the photo in my back pocket and left the room. "What happened to the last one?"

"He killed them. He has worked his way up. He took over one of the smaller lycan packs. Now with this one, his pack is growing. We suspect he wants to take over the second largest lycan pack before over throwing the largest pack in all of the country. He is recruiting and changing humans. This massacre is to feed the new lycans he created." Bible walked with me to the door. "Good luck Apo."

"Dont need it." I got on my bike. My phone vibrated with the coordinates of the club. I started my bike. It's a good night to take down a pack leader. I drove off.

I arrived at the night club and parked my bike in the alleyway away from greedy eyes. I walked to the entrance of the club where faint music filtered out of the building. I was immediately greeted by two large lycans parading as humans. The scent of wet dogs followed them. It was hilarious that they think they can hide from me.

"This party is invitation only." One of them spoke.

I smirked. They must be newly made because they cannot ascertain what I am. "Here is my invitation." I looked into their eyes and reached into their minds. 'Move' I commanded without uttering a single word.

They stepped aside and I entered the building. I walked inside and down a hall until it gave away to a large room with music and lights. The scent of wet fur filled the place. I could not know for sure how many lycans were around but I could feel their hunger.

I looked at my watch. It is nearly midnight. I need to make quick work of this so that the humans don't get startled. I go to the bar and sit down. I order a drink but do not touch it. My eyes focus on the bartender. I reached into his mind.

Where is your leader?

The bartender does not speak but shows me the room above the DJ booth. I turn to look above the DJ booth and can see a large window overlooking the entire club. There is no light inside but I can see a tall figure hiding in the shadows. There he is.

This will be easy. Maybe after I finish this pack leader I will have my fill of humans as well. I found the back stairs. Two more lycans obstruct my path but they are no match for my gifted mind. They move to the side and I pass them. I walk up the stairs. I pull my blade from its sheath.

I enter a hallway and find a door at the end. I walk up to it but before I can open the door it is opened. Out steps a man in a white button up shirt but the buttons are not buttoned all the way. He was tall and handsome even under the dim light. Still something about him was different.

"Apo Nattawin Wattanagitiphat." He said in a deep voice. "You came here to kill me right?" He walked down the hall towards me. "You took care of my guards rather quickly. How about you stand down and maybe I let you live?" He stopped just a few feet short of me.

I was intrigued but that didn't mean I wouldn't kill him.

"Let you live?" I asked. "Why would I do that when you're causing so much trouble?"

"Trouble? My new lycans have to feed. What do you suggest I do with a building full of lycans? I could let them all live, the humans and send my newborn lycans to your coven in the morning." He smiled and showed a mouth full of perfect teeth. I already hate that smile of his.

"Not a chance." I gripped my blade a little tighter.

"Have it your way." He ran towards me.

I swung my knife at him but he ran into me and I was thrown against a wall. I recovered quickly and pushed him away. He threw a punch at me and I blocked him and countered with a swing of my blade. It caught his arm and cut along his forearm. He hissed in pain as the blood began to spill. I stepped back.

He looked at me and rushed at me again. He swung his fist at me and I dodged it quickly. I moved behind and was going to stab him with my blade but he moved too quickly and I was only able to cut through his shirt and into his back. Blood spilled from that open wound.

"ARGH!" He growled. He tore away his shirt and I could see the cut I made but something was different.

The bleeding soon stopped and his wound healed right in front of my eyes. That is not supposed to happen, not in lycans anyway. What is this person? I looked at the wall and saw the fire alarm. I quickly pulled it and the fire alarms rang.

The blade in my hand was still stained with his blood. I brought the blade to my lips and tasted it.

Impossible!!

I turned from him and left down the stairs before he could turn around.  I was fast as I left the place. People were scattering onto the streets and sirens could be heard in the distance.  I found my bike. I started before I quickly left down that alleyway.
