Keep in mind that this takes place in the alternate ending of Tristeza. But it is still an explanation for everything. Still kind of Ties in with the current universe.

La Muerte looked over at the mother and children playing over her shoulder. They were playing charades like they usually play.

She smiled as she looked at the heartwarming scene. It always warmed her heart when a family was together. It was way better than when they were separated. Now a thought or rather memory crossed her mind.

La Muerte looked over at the campos of the Mexican Revolution. It seemed to have attracted her passion for nature. A young couple no older than a mere 26 and 27 years old. Conversing and chatting. She knew what it was that was going on. A secret love that not even they could see. But she could very well see it was real. They could never wed. An obstacle in their way.

La Muerte glanced down at the woman's stomach. A secret she had not told the father yet. She sighed. Two little boys and a girl. Reminded her how she lost her own kids. All at the hand of her cruel concubine.

She decided not to dwell on that.

~~~
La Muerte never thought of it but. Here she was again. Looking over at the young couple.
Adelita Sanchez seemed to be in distress. A hand over her stomach as fresh tears stained her eyes. La Muerte knew that something was. Dying. A little Life was. Gone.
A little girl fetus was now. Gone. Dead and no longer there. But Alina would be able to take care of that. At least she would be in a better place. If she had survived then this story would have played out differently. A little cruel to say the least.
Something was. Cruel to say the least. All three of them died. Two little boys were dead in this woman's womb and a little girl miscarried.
But somehow. Some, negative energy was latching itself onto something near this grieving woman. Ghastly.
La Muerte's heart pained to see this woman suffering one of the many tragedies of pregnancy. But yet what could be done in this cruel world? Could there be anything?
La Muerte didn't want to watch anymore and left the scene to do something else.
~~~

This was not meant to happen.

She had just been reading her book. And when all of a sudden the candles lighting up the room blew out and only the candles on her sombrero were still burning. The only thing that kept the room from being completely pitch dark.

And that was pretty much all. When she began to hear child whispers. They were pretty much terrifying in her honest opinion.

But once she blinked the whispers were gone and the candles burned once again. Weird.

~~~
La Muerte went to her bedroom to read a book. She needed something to clear her mind.
'' Maybe things could have been different if my children survived. But I can't ask for really anything much.'' Thought La Muerte.
Just in the midst of her thoughts the candles stopped burning and the only thing lighting was the candles of her sombrero and on her skirt were the only thing lighting up her room. Making it not as hard to see.
Then there were those damn child whispers again.
''Who are you? Show yourself!'' Shouted La Muerte to whatever identity was hiding in her castle.
