chapter 8

"five, four, three, two, ONE! BYE KIRA I'M CLOCKING OUT." soeun was beyond happy she was feeling ecstatic about her shift ending earlier than usual. swiftly she took her batch off her tshirt and slid it in the drawer.

"i'll put you on extra shifts from next week if you show so much discomfort." kira, the owner of the coffee shop joked.

"woah woah that's crazy, i'll quit." soeun said before walking out of the shop.

yumi and minjae were already at the other side of the road, waiting for her to get done with her shift. the two of them were bickering about cold coffee and hot coffee until soeun opened the car door and sitting inside while greeting them.

"hey girl, how was your shift?" minjae looked at her through the rear view mirror. "the usual, served the customers, read a book and gossiped with kira." the girl replied as she combed her hair with her fingers, trying her best to detangle the knots.

"funzies, minjae has plans he wants to knock himself out tonight." yumi spoke while side eyeing the boy who was driving happily.

"y'all do whatever just drop me off at my apartment, i'm literally dead in the legs." soeun sighed and leaned back on her seat.

"that doesn't even make sense you-"
"it does make sense, i totally get you baby. minjae will drop you off don't worry." yumi cut the boy off mid sentence which evidently pissed him off but he refused to say anything.

soeun let out a small chuckle as she looked at the chaos that was unfolding infront of her. yumi and minjae made a crazy duo together. the girl had been with her two best friends since sophomore year and there'd always been an undeniable chemistry between yumi and minjae.

yumi was always head over heels for minjae but he never noticed. the older boy had always thought it was a normal thing between him and yumi. in order to not show her true emotions to the boy yumi would resort to acting like she somewhat hated him.

to pass the awkward tension that had filled up, soeun updated her friends about donghyuck and how they had been listening to songs together on spotify since the past three days.

"i don't want to take things out of context, but he listens to taylor with me guys." soeun's voice softened by the end of her sentence.

"the bar is in HELL, soeun." minjae responded and emphasised on the word 'hell'.

"that's really cute i think. i mean he doesn't even listen to taylor swift but he's listening with you, that should say something." yumi's expression changed when the thought of someone doing a certain thing that they don't usually do for someone else crossed her mind.

minjae took the next turn into soeun's apartment lane,"yeah it says that you're fucking delusional." he says, almost crushing the girls' expectations.

"girls like that stuff. it's the effort that counts and that's something i'd advice you to do minjae as well. getting out of your comfort zone and trying new things is fun."
"and i agree with soeunnie." yumi smiled at her friend from the front seat.

"whatever you girls are just something."
