Walking through a hallway, you drummed your fingertips against your thigh as your arm was hanging freely, swinging lightly back and forth. You rounded the corner when the wall came to an end with your eyes still focused on the documents you were holding.

You got another task to do, but that one was completely different from the usual ones. No spying on anybody, sneaking, killing, nothing of that sort. All you had to do was to head to a conference room. That was all the information you had been given.

The frown on your face was enough to say you were confused about what was happening and you would lie if you said you didn't want to know more. You never liked being left blindsided. You always had to know what the purpose of your task was, why you were sent somewhere and what you could expect.

It didn't sit right with you that today you didn't get to know any of that. But you wouldn't think about it too much as you were getting closer to your destination, greeting your coworkers along the way.

As you fiddled with the envelope that lay on top of the documents, not a second later, you felt another body collide with yours. "Whoa!" Both you and the other person let out a sound while the papers were falling down on the ground.

"Oh my God, I'm so sorry." You quickly kneeled down, following the woman, to help while she was repeatedly apologizing. "No need to, I wasn't looking where I was going." She was completely focused on gathering everything that fell out of her hands.

"I'm sorry for making a mess." You added as both of you grabbed the last pieces of sheet. "It's okay, we both probably should be more aware of our surroundings." The woman laughed lightly while getting up.

"Thank you for the help and I'm sorry again." She smiled at you as you returned the gesture and she started walking away. You double-checked if you had everything before doing the same. "I really need to get it together."

Mumbling to yourself, you saw the place you were supposed to be at in a few minutes. The last couple of days hadn't been the best and you just wanted to relax, so all that secrecy wasn't helping with you being mentally drained.

Sighing heavily, you rubbed your eyebrow before opening the door and entering the room.

"Here you are, finally." A man's deep voice reached your ears and you lazily looked up at him. "I see you really put some effort into looking fancy."

You pursed your lips as you looked down at your basic white V-neck t-shirt and black jeans. "Well," You started, spreading your arms a little. "I wanted to look nice for you."

The man shook his head with a small smile before patting the top of a chair. "Oh, L/N, better take a seat." Raising your eyebrows, you moved towards him. "So, will you give me the honor of knowing why-" You slowly stopped in your tracks as you passed the wall and finally noticed the group of people sitting around the big round table. "I'm here-" The silence filled the room as they all were staring at you and you back at them, analyzing every single face.

"What the hell, Nick?" Your eyes focused back on your friend with a slightly tilted head and squinted eyes.

"Have some respect for your boss." Your eyebrow shot up at his words as you found it very interesting of him to say it. "Well, boss," You could see he didn't appreciate the mocking tone you decided to use. "Why am I here with this circle of mutual adoration?"

"There's no need to be rude." One of the men mumbled, but loudly enough for you to hear. "You can trust me that I wasn't even trying." The blonde-haired man looked at you almost shocked.

"Okay, before you cause any war here, I have something important to discuss with you." You weren't excited about this situation and how Fury was acting, not telling you basically anything at all. Even now, with all these people that clearly knew what was going on.
