DAILY PROPHET EVENING EXCLUSIVE

(August 21st, 1976 - page one - ILVERMORNY STUDENT AT HOGWARTS - written by William Plinaren)

Earlier this month (August 20th at 3:14 pm) the Minister of Magic sat down with the President of the Magical Congress of the United States of America in hopes to continue to build relations, with the intent to join forces to put a stop to Death Eater Attacks plaguing Europe. These recent muggle/muggle-born related attacks have yet to veer towards pureblood or even half-blood witches and wizards. It is suspected this meeting was scheduled due to the recent Swansea Muggle Massacre (see page 2 for details).

Unlike other European countries taking defensive action towards the rise of Death Eater and He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named attacks growing larger, America was previously more relaxed upon the situation with President Fictus reassuring there to be no need for the country to be involved much to the chagrin of the wizarding public. (Last month the attacks were already declared by the French Ministry of Magic as the First Wizarding War and have their Aurors on a strict law of "kill on sight" for any Death Eater sightings)

The meeting, in question, had been rumored there to be a very heated debate between the Minister of Magic and the President - eventually leaving British-American relations more fragmented than when Mr. Newt Scamander had last visited the United States. President Fictus reportedly admitted to already being bribed to siding with the Death Eaters' cause and was soon after punched in the face by the Minister - a feat of which many are determining to be one of his few actions that have actually made a difference to wizarding society.

"I don't know what Mr. (censored) Mitchum has told you but rest assured you (censored) (censored) Europeans, that we will continue to remain neutral in these times [...] as it has been determined that staying out of the war is what has gotten us through many a tough times, including significant events that define us as we are, Americans," President Fictus told Mitchum, "[Americans and Britian] should be well minded about our own battles that we have faced not yet twenty-years prior with the rise of Gellert Grindelwald and Scourers advancing in their numbers. We have faced more and will forever be your saviors, but not this time you slums. Bet your Swanseas deserved it."

Around ten minutes later following this distressing announcement, President Fictus was reportedly punched by the Minister and both dueled - eventually ending with Fictus (a pumpkin on his head) unconscious and the Minister dangerously hit with five stunning spells from Fictus. The entirety of the nearest household staff and Aurors of either side subsequently got involved, waging a mini battle between the two nationalities that continued outside, being witnessed and recorded by twenty-three muggles.

MACUSA wiped all evidence of the fight happening and obliviated the affected muggles. Nobody is reported fatally hurt. Attending the emergency International Confederation of Wizards, our sources divulged to us the startling resignation of President Fictus. "We are highly embarrassed by the display shown on the twentieth of August and hold the values of MACUSA with the example of Victor Fictus being asked to be successful elsewhere. It has been decided - as a country - that we still wish to remain neutral until otherwise provided information about the possible threat within Europe," MACUSA representative and newly instated Ilvermorny Headmaster Agilbert Fontaine stated - to the uproar of the Confederation.

As a means to try to remain on friendly terms, it was suggested by the Supreme Mugwump for an Ilvermorny student to spend a year at Hogwarts and vice versa; exchanging ideas and expanding the European-American relationship among the younger generation. This suggestion caused an even larger upset and was barely passed with three votes more for yes. It is the opinion of a few members of the Confederation that the Ilvermorny student would be in danger while treading into another possible massacre as Death Eater numbers seem to rise.

When asked about the events taking place Head Auror Alastor Moody replied "Fictus was an idiot and everybody's an idiot for sending children to be politicians in a country fighting against known and dangerous killers."

We at the Daily Prophet were personally assured by Headmaster Albus Dumbledore that "Hogwarts is perfectly prepared for the arrival and safety of both the population of Hogwarts and the arrival of the Ilvermorny delegate. We are delighted to host and learn more about what Ilvermorny's culture comparatively towards the education provided by Hogwarts."

The two students picked are respectively a sixth-year at Ilvermorny and a seventh-year at Hogwarts. Dorcas Meadowes, a high-achieving, and promising Hogwarts student happily told us she is "very excited to spend her sixth year learning more and expanding [her] knowledge at the famous American school."

Gifted painter, Joan Claud, who won The New York Ghost's Art Competition three years in a row, with a multitude of her pieces being displayed in MACUSA's and St. Mungo's hallways, will be the Ilvermorny delegate. Her parents, legendary American Aurors: Robert and Dana Claud proudly told the Daily Prophet "We are absolutely delighted that our Joan will be traveling overseas and has such a unique opportunity to represent Ilvermorny at Hogwarts. It is an important moment for American-European relations and we are certain that Joan will make an – ah whatdya say? An impact."
