Chapter Two
Angel's POV
2. Accident Prone
Emily! Pretty huh?
I stood rigidly on the sidewalk, surrounded by strangers as we waited for the traffic signal to switch to green, indicating for us to walk. It took a physical effort for me to keep breathing as the large mass of people gathered around, all of them doing their own thing in their own little world. Every time someone would inch closer to me, I felt my self flinch in the opposite direction, unintentionally of course. It had gained me a few odd or offended looks from the street patrons but oh well, it isn't like I can avoid it.
It had been a month since my arrival to my new home and I guess you could say that I'm settling in nicely. It hasn't been easy, but with an effort from Daria, Rolf and my self, we have managed to set some rules and boundaries that we can all live with seeing as how we were living with one another now.
It hadn't been easy but after several attempts from Daria to touch me in one way or another, whether she was trying to help me or comfort me, I had finally broken down and set some rules with my two employees, the first of which was there was to be absolutely NO TOUCHING. I hate being touched, by anyone for any reason. Just the thought makes my skin crawl and my stomach churn uncomfortably.
Much to Daria's displeasure, I had also barred them from coming to the third floor where my room was. I planned on making that my private floor and keeping the second floor for Guests or what have you. Daria and Rolf lived in a suite that my aunt had been kind enough to have built for them on the ground floor towards the back fo the house so it worked in my favor. I knew it was an odd change for the couple to not have to care for the entire estate, but I craved my privacy and blanched at the thought of having one of them walk in on one of my fits. Eventually they had both agreed and I thanked them for their willingness to oblige me.
Sadly for me, the outside world didn't feel the same obligation, and now because of a combination of extreme boredness and a desire to help, I am forced to endure the wonderful rush of the city. Note the sarcasm. Note it heavily.
"Hey watch it!" heard a woman yell before there was a heavy impact on my back, sending me hurling forward.
Before I could stop my body, I slammed into the tiny little red haired woman that had been standing in front of me. A high pitched squeak left her as we fell toward the ground and the distinct sound of liquid splashing on the ground mixed with the baring horns of the city traffic and the general chatter of the people around us who just ignore the commotion all together.
I caught myself on my hands and knees easily, as did the woman who had been in front of me.
"Shit!" I heard her soft voice hiss as she sat back on her heels and glanced down at something on the ground in front of her.
I quickly scrambled to my feet and moved around to see if she was alright only to find a pile of three empty coffee cups and a shattered phone of the ground .
"Are you alright Miss?" I asked softly, and hesitantly, unwillingly, offering her my hand to help her up.
She looked up at me with pale blue eyes and huffed before accepting my outstretched hand and answering,"I don't know what I'm going to do. Oh Dubsie is going to be pissed!"
I removed my hand from hers the second she was up and balanced on her own feet. I did so carefully but quickly, not wanting to have her touching me any longer then necessary. My stomach had already clenched and was attempting to discharge the lovely blueberry waffles that Daria had made for breakfast this morning. I somehow doubted that they would look or taste as delicious coming back up.
