Inside the Mirror Chamber, hundreds of students clustered in groups, murmuring to one another. The main question on everyone's mind was: 'Where is the headmage?'

"We're done with orientation and dorm assignments?" A red-headed boy muttered, placing a hand on his chest. He introduced himself with an authoritative tone, "All right, new students—let me be clear. At Heartslabyul House, I am the law. Break the rules, and it’s off with your head!"

The students in his group nodded nervously, feeling as though they were walking through a minefield, one wrong step away from losing their heads—or whatever he meant.

A boy with lion ears yawned, looking bored. "Well, that ceremony was as dull as ever. I’m heading back to the dorm. If you’re in Savanaclaw House, follow me."

Then a boy with glasses and light gray hair spoke up with a too-friendly smile, "New students! Allow me to be the first to congratulate you on your achievement." He placed a hand on his chest, "As the dorm leader of Octavinelle House, I am honored to support you in what I hope will be a fulfilling campus experience."

"Hey, does anyone know where the headmage went? He disappeared midway through the ceremony..." a handsome boy with light blonde hair fading to lilac asked.

"Some headmage he is," a voice from a blue floating tablet commented. "Maybe he had a tummy ache?" a boy with red eyes and white hair guessed.

Outside, on the other side of the door, Millie and Enna could hear snippets of the conversation, though much of it was indistinct whispers from where they are.

Suddenly, with dramatic flair, Crowley flung open the enormous door with a force that sounded like a cannon shot.

"I most certainly did not!"

Everyone turned toward the source of the booming door. There was the headmage everyone had been wondering about. "Ah, speak of the devil," the red-headed boy remarked.
