"Frankie, I need you to open the shop this morning, your sister needs me to look after Bella and Ludo today." My Mum spoke quickly, and a sigh escaped my lips."What happened to that five-star au-pair that she and Benito forked out a tonne of money for?" I questioned, shaking my head.
"She had a last minute family issue, she's had to fly back to Italy." Mum answered. "So, Nanny-daycare it is!"
I sighed again, shaking my head once more. My sister, Lily, had married an Italian model almost ten years ago, and they certainly had no issue with money, yet Lily always seemed to rely on my Mum for everything, even after ten years of glitz and glamour.
"Alright, well, I'll leave in ten. The shop will be open by nine."
"Thank you, darling. There's two fittings scheduled today, and a design meeting. You remember Anna Kearney, don't you?"
"The stylist?" I asked.
"Yeah! Well, her sister, I think her name was Ruth, is getting married and wants all of her dresses designed by us. I'll try to get back in time for the meeting, but if I can't make it, you've got it, right?"
"Of course." I nodded to myself. "It's not the first design meeting I've had, nor will it be the last."
"I know, I know. Just make sure you tend to everything she needs. I heard there's a lot of people interested in her wedding, having more publicity for our designs would be amazing."
"I know it would, Mum. I promise, the meeting will go fine!"
"Thank you, Frankie."
"It's okay." I replied. "See you later, Mum. I love you."
"I love you too, honey. Bye!"
I placed the phone down on the dresser, looking up at myself in the mirror, just to double check my appearance before I left. My dark brown hair was tied back in a high pony tail, and my make up was all rubbed in properly, my eyes dark, my appearance fine for a day at work. And with that, I headed off to open up Moore's Bridal Designs.
My Mum had opened up her own bridal store when I was a child, and it was based in the local high-street, as well as having it's own website. Upon leaving school just over ten years ago, I had realised that I wanted to follow in my Mum's footsteps, with a passion for designing dresses. I'd worked in her store ever since.--
"Morning, Kels!" I smiled and greeted my co-worker as she stumbled through the door, ten minutes late, two large Starbucks coffee cups in her hands.
"Morning, hun!" She replied, her Essex accent thick. "Remind me to go to Costa next time. Who knew that so many people wanted a Starbucks coffee in the morning? It's ridiculous how rammed it was in there!"
I laughed softly, shaking my head. "Well, you choose to go and buy it instead of making your own, what do you expect?"
She rolled her eyes playfully. "I got one for you too, you can't complain!" She placed a cup down on the counter in front of me. "Latte, one sugar."
"Thank you." I flashed her a small smile, reaching for it. "How did you know I was going to be in today?"
"Your sister had a bit of a rant on twitter this morning about childcare arrangements. I figured your Mum would go to her rescue."
I nodded my head. "Well, you were right."
"Always am." Kelsey laughed softly, tucking a bit of long blonde hair behind her ear. "Right, let me take me bits off and I'll be all yours."
