Jules Bianchi, Daniel Ricciardo and Emilia Senna...They had rocked the paddock throughout 2013 and some of 2014.
Together a wide majority of the time whether it be on track or off track. Emilia and Jules with their little entanglement that left Daniel the third wheel throughout the summer of both years.
Jules had been a test/reserve driver for the 2012 Formula One season and it had been during that time Emilia had been introduced to him. Daniel had been over the moon when he'd managed to set his best friend up with the woman he always heard him go on about and the Jules-Emilia pairing had been one of those great loves despite how short lived it had been.
Right person, wrong time.
Or whatever you wanted to call it.
Some people liked to claim that on that eventful day in 2014, the friendship between Daniel and Emilia died. They were never seen interacting or even looking at one another and as the weeks went by with no sign of improvement after the accident, both of them seemed to lose hope that Jules would survive.
They never did.
Right up until July 17th 2015, Daniel and Emilia had held the hope their friend would pull through.
He didn't.
Over the winter break between 2014 and 2015, Emilia dropped off the face of the planet. No one could get through to her and none of her social media accounts had been updated since a few days after the last race.
Reason being? Emilia spent her time in Monaco taking care of a heartbroken Charles Leclerc.
Why? She'd promised that to Jules.
But after the confirmed death and funeral of Jules. Daniel and Emilia's friendship recovered to the eyes of the media. Whilst it took them both a while to re-wear their happy-go-lucky exteriors, the two had been seen walking around the paddock arm in arm.
The relationship that then began to form on tv between Emilia and Charles was one that the media and fans adored. With how Emilia would be at every race of Charles' that she could, standing alongside Herve Leclerc and Charles' other family members if they were there - filling in that empty space which should've been Jules.
"Emiliaaaaa!" Daniel's voice sings out.
"Daniel." Emilia grins, tilting her head back to see him.
The Australian stood over the top of her, leaning on the back of the sofa-like bench that she was sat on. It was just her and Charles - with the Monegasque laying across the cushions with his head in her lap, falling in and out of sleep because he'd exhausted himself by messing around with Pierre all morning.
"What happened to everyone else?" He questions, rounding the sofa.
"Erm, Seb went to get food and Kimi went with him." Emilia begins.
"Of course." Daniel laughs.
"You find Seb, Kimi is usually with him." Emilia says with a laugh as well. "Carlos and Max went off somewhere, Kevin and Romain went to go and put their things away."
"Pierre? Considering Charles is here with you."
"I should know but I don't I'll be honest."
"Great work."
"Thanks."
Daniel's laughter was so contagious that Emilia found herself chuckling along with him. She glanced down at the Monegasque laid out across her, brushing his hair back from his face to reveal that he had finally slipped into sleep allowing her to lean back and sigh, free hand shielding her eyes from the sun.
