Charlotte POV:

The first weeks of my marriage have been lonely to say the least, with George at Kew and me at Buckingham house it is not the honeymoon I had imagined. His constant pleas that somehow this is for the best astounds me as I drown in loneliness and am left with my thoughts on what he could be doing away from me. I had called on Lady Danbury in secret for companionship and inquired her opinion as to what to do.

"I do not know a reasonable course," I explained, the tea cup burning against my wrist as my corset dug into my hips.

"Your majesty, do you wish to hear what I believe?" Lady Danbury began, holding hesitance in her voice and setting her tea down on the side table.

I gave her a nod, encouraging her thoughts. She moved her head towards Brimsley and the other guards and shewed them away, with quick bows they left the room, "You need to position yourself in a place where he may not ignore you. Flash yourself in his eye line and do not let him overlook you."

I enjoyed her vigor, it kept me sharp as well as her friendship. I nodded along in agreement, my eyes darting around the floor as my brow knit together, "Truly a splendid plan!" I exclaimed and to Lady Danburys relief she let out a smile.

"I'm fact I shall leave for Kew in the morning," I said and stood up to straighten out my dress, "I apologize, Lady Danbury, but it appears I have a great deal of packing to do." She stood up quickly understanding that I required focus and solitude.

"Indeed, your majesty," she said, dipping her knees and quietly exiting the room, holding the door ajar and letting Brimsley and the other staff members enter the room.

"Make haste! We leave for Kew in the morning," I exclaimed and Brimsley's face was shocked before covering itself with a look of seriousness to the task at hand.

A few days later...

I had been a Kew for mere days but George has only acknowledged me a handful of times, and a few silent meals. While I believed in Lady Danbury's plan, it was becoming apparent that my forced prescience was not enough to draw attention to myself and I became frustrated. He was still held up in his observatory and when I attempted to show up his footmen would shew me away and tell me he was busy. Frankly I was beginning to believe he was held up with another woman somewhere in the palace.

My only distraction from this ridiculous plan is my ever growing court which continues to be filled not only with my ladies in waiting but with various new lords and ladies recently given their title. Amongst these members was of course Landry Danbury and her god awful husband but also a plethora of handsome men, ripe for the taking.

One Lord in particular stood out amongst the crowd, nearly 2 meters in height and with dark brown hair that was swept across his tan skin. Green eyes bore out of his face and a strong jawline that grinded into place whenever he looked particularly deep in thought. Lord Melrose, I believe his name is, a renowned rake and pledged to never marry the day he came out into society. What an enigma he is.

I walked over to him as he promenaded around the steps of Kew with many a lady following in his wake and the black linen poking out near the collar of his jacket. He heard my footsteps, shifting the blades of grass beneath me as he dropped his head, "Your majesty," he said. The same fuckable tone was apparent in his voice as he let his gaze run across my hips and down to my heeled feet.

"Lord Melrose is it?" I question, already knowing the answer. He gave me a nod as he lifted his head and planted a smolder on his face.

"Indeed, your majesty," he said and smiled off to the side before returning my gaze.
