A love story that blooms in the midst of a world war is something that would never last forever.
Captain America; The First Avenger --
Bucky Barnes x OC
ELODIE HAD HER HEAD RESTED AGAINST BUCKY'S CHEST. Her hand just placed over his heart, feeling it beating. They were alone in her room, wanting to get away from the chaos that was outside. She could also see he was a bit overwhelmed and something was wrong. Elodie didn't want to just outright ask though, especially since he had just spent weeks in an enemy base.
He had his arms wrapped around her, his hand tangled up in her blonde locks. Bucky's eyes were closed as he just took in the moment. He was finally back with her. Something he didn't think was happening less than a day ago.
Chewing her bottom lip, Elodie lifted her head gently. Her gaze shifted up toward Bucky's face. The movement made his eyes open and he's met hers. The smallest smile was on his face and it was clear that he was trying to act fine in front of her. But she could see past it, she could see the pain lurking beneath his eyes.
“Bucky…” She starts to say, her hand moving into his as she thinks to herself, hesitant to keep talking. “You know you dont have to keep anything to yourself, right? You can talk to me.” Elodie informs him. She squeezed his hand and allowed her feet to inch towards him.
Bucky looked away from her. “Not now.” He denies and she frowns lightly, lifting her free hand up to his cheek. “Please, not right now.” Bucky's voice was barely above a whisper, his voice cracking. It broke her heart but she respected his wishes, knowing he'd open up about it when he was ready.
She just slowly rubs her thumb over the skin of his cheek before wrapping her arms back around him. Bucky lets out a shaky breath as he holds onto her once more, nuzzling his head into the crevice of her neck. Elodie ran her hands through his hair as she stared at the wall in front of her.
“When they told me they werent going to rescue your troop… I didnt know what to think.” She admits with a small sniffle. “I truly believed I was never going to see you again. All because they believed you were expendable.” Elodie explains to him. Bucky holds her lighter.
“I'm right here.”
She still felt like she was dreaming. That all of this was just some twisted nightmare. “Steve showed up and I finally got hope again. Hope that I'd see you.” Elodie says as she pulls back once again.
