flora lay in defeat on the clothing covered floor of her best friends bedroom. she was two hours into looking for an outfit for olivia rodrigo's party for the release of her newest album, 'guts' and so far found nothing that interested her.

'stop being so dramatic flo, you looked so fucking hot in everything you've tried on so far just pick one', sadie, who was sitting in front of her mirror trying to fix her eyeliner, couldn't help but roll her eyes at the groaning twenty year old girl.

rolling over onto her stomach flora looked up at her best friend. her and sadie had grown up together as their moms were friends from college and there was nobody she trusted or loved more. sadie's acting career had taken off in the last few years which led to her being invited to more than a few high profile events which she dragged flora to, despite her objections. flora was more than happy with being the background friend and letting sadie be in the limelight but her best friend refused to go anywhere without her.

'how do you expect me to go to olivia fucking rodrigo's party without a good outfit?' flora rambled on, biting her nails as her eyes moved over the pile of maybe outfits she had made in the corner.

picking up that her friend may be worrying over more than just an outfit, sadie launched into telling flora about how olivia is so sweet and how she knew all her friends would love her. flora was extremely nervous about meeting the famous people that will definitely be at the party, she'd met olivia's friend conan once and they had talked as if they knew each other their whole lives but there would be a lot more than just him at this. smiling at sadie, she collapsed down onto the bed, her eyes glancing at the alarm clock on the bedside table. her eyes widened as she comprehended the time, 'shit shit shit we've an hour hurry the fuck up'

exactly one hour later the two girls stood in front of the venue for olivia's party, excitement dripping from the words exchanged between the two. running her hands down along her dress (the first outfit she had tried on, to sadie's annoyance), flora sucked in a breath and opened the door. walking through it felt like the entire packed out room had turned to stare at them, when in reality their presence was hardly noticed over the loud music and dimmed lighting. glancing around, flora couldn't help but notice that olivia herself was nowhere to be seen. just as she was about to turn to ask sadie, she was dragged past the crowds and through the door to the back of the room into a large living room type area.

'sadie!?', the brunette singer immediately raced up to the two, bringing the redhead into a tight hug. turning to flora, her smile only grew bigger, 'i've heard so much about you it's so amazing to finally meet you,' she squeezed the blonde in a hug before pulling away, 'i love your outfit you look so good! sadie told me you don't drink much so i got some sodas over there if you want but if you're feeling a drink there's some over by the pool table, feel free to help yourself'

just the tone of olivia's voice put flora's mind at ease and she knew they would be friends. grabbing a soda, she began a conversation with olivia and conan who had appeared when she had returned. talking with the singer was easy and they found their personalities matched perfectly, no wonder since they were both friends with sadie. to flora's dismay, the redhead had been whipped away by a group of girls to god knows where leaving flora, conan and olivia laughing and chatting. however it wasn't long before the two were also dragged away by a group of their friends into the main area of the party. olivia tried to pull her along too but flora hated feeling like she was intruding and she could hear them talking about taking some group photos, so she remained in place anxiously wishing for sadie to appear back.

now sitting alone, flora couldn't help but start to feel a bit awkward and lonely, glancing around the room trying to find a familiar face but coming up blank. she loved sadie with everything in her but she hated her for leaving her at a party where she felt extremely out of her depth. the girl usually was stuck to flora's side but for whatever reason she had decided to disappear tonight. just as she was about to pull out her phone and succumb to the weird anti-social girl at a party persona, a girl plopped down in the chair beside her and sighed deeply, putting her head in her hands.
