"Oh! So, Ikeru Rin is my however many times grandmother?! Wow! So, part of my family line tracks back to Japan? And, you're basically my grandfather?" Liu Meilin yammered out loud.

Sesshomaru nodded his head. "Yes."

The tension between himself, Rin's descendant, and her husband, dissipated once he revealed this tidbit about Liu Meilin. Mention of their close enough blood relation brought out the ever so familiar smile of his beloved daughter. Liu Meilin even went so far as to run up to Sesshomaru and embrace him.

Wei Changze appeared startled, thinking Sesshomaru would push her away, but Sesshomaru remained still. Accustomed to Rin's descendants breaking decorum behind closed doors, in this case, in the darkness of the night, Sesshomaru wasn't offended.

Liu Meilin wiped away her incoming tears, voicing her happiness to know someone in her family. Undeniably happy to physically touch him and hear his voice. She held him again before she tore herself away from him, bowing deeply enough to expose the back of her neck.

Safe to assume, Liu Meilin was orphaned from a young age.

A thought which brought a flicker of ire in Sesshomaru's soul. He promised to oversee and protect Rin's descendants. His talents made it easier for him to track down everyone in between his duties. He annotated the Ikeru line, the family Rin married into, and wrote down the newest birth or the latest natural death. It mattered little if the girls married into other families, Sesshomaru added their lines into Rin's family tree.

Throughout these latest generations, Sesshomaru made sure Rin's descendants lived well and in comfort. Some were not as wealthy as the others, which was where Sesshomaru slipped in funds for them to use whenever possible. Of course, they used them to weather through their struggles or opened businesses to bring in money.

He prided himself in having looked after the extensions of his daughter. No one lived in hunger or without a home to call their own.

Yet, he failed one of them.

Unacceptable.

Sesshomaru didn't fail.

And he would reimburse Liu Meilin during their next meeting. Money was no object to him. Generations of his line invested in businesses, created businesses, and hoarded riches throughout their travels. Sesshomaru had more than enough riches to share. He would have to go back to his lands and shift through the treasury before making his way back to China.

When Liu Meilin straightened herself up, Sesshomaru patted the top of her head. She squeaked, astonished at his sudden action.

Sesshomaru ignored her as they settled in a clearing where Wei Changze created a fire to provide a bit of light to further illuminate their area. The full moon provided some light, but not enough for them to see each other's faces. Sesshomaru could see them fine, but the couple didn't have his superior eyesight.

Sesshomaru took his time to observe Cangse Sanren, whose real name was Liu Meilin. Her dark brown hair was definitely Rin's. The shape of her mouth and eyebrows were also Rin's. The rest of her exterior were mixtures of her ancestors who mixed with the continent's population.

"Many of Rin's descendants inherited her wanderlust but kept to our lands. Yet, your line," Sesshomaru catching the twinkle in her eyes. "Took a boat to the continent and left only a letter for explanation. Commenting on the sudden need to explore the sea."

Comfortable enough to relax, Wei Changze chuckled. "Ah, I'm not surprised. A-Lin is spontaneous and prefers not to stay rooted in one place. It makes sense that her familiar tie is the one who took the chance to come to China."
