August and Desiree have been good friends since the beginning of time.
After a horrible fight between the two, their friendship crumbled. Weeks after their dispute, August was sent to jail for three years. Desiree visited him and tried to repair their torn friendship, but August was intractable. He held resentment. Some of it didn't have anything to do with Desiree. It didn't matter to him. He still pushed her away.
They haven't seen each other in years.
