"how has your day been?"
The simple question stunned me for a second . Nobody has ever asked me that since i started working here , so simple yet so meaningful.
i looked up from the cash register to be met with the most beautiful blue eyes i have ever seen , i let my eyes roam over every inch of her face , from the sprinkling of tiny freckles on her nose then to her perfectly groomed eyebrows then to her luscious lips . she was stunning she had a smile that would brighten even the darkest room.
she was staring at me too with a small look of amusement on her face and that's when i realised i never answered her question. "oh um sorry i'm not used to being asked that" i replied awkwardly "customers here aren't too nice to me but it's ok this is only a summer job anyway, my day has been great what about you?"
"mine was great too thanks"she replied with a smile "i was wondering if you could show me where the wine is?" she asked with the grin still on her lips
"yeah sure follow me" i started walking and she stayed by my side , it was only now i could properly see her , she was about the same height as me and that's really uncommon for women considering i am 5 foot 9 ,she was slim but her muscles were toned and she had the most beautiful tan i had ever seen.
"so um the wines just over here" i stood back and pointed to the neatly organised bottles as she bent down and inspected the bottles closer
"i'm not really a wine person" the mysterious woman giggled as she tried to read all of the fancy french names on the wine bottles
"i think you should go for a pino grigio it's my personal favourite" i suggested trying to be helpful
"thanks for the suggestion" she replied as she grabbed the bottle and stood back up "you do look a bit young to be suggesting wine though. how old are you?" the woman asked with a smirk
i could feel my face going red as i cleared my throat "old enough"
"sure" she laughed , she has the most perfect laugh i've ever heard
we walked back to the checkout and i scanned her shopping ,she bought the wine and a bottle of smirnoff
"have fun with whatever you're doing with all the drinks but be safe" i finally said as i handed her her change ,she looked down at my name badge then back up to my eyes "thank you for your help lexi"
The way she said my name had me frozen on the spot and before i knew it she was gone , i never even got her name.

My shift ended shortly after but all i could think about on my way home from work was that beautiful woman , i even asked my colleagues if they knew who she was and they told me that they had never seen her before . i needed to see her again , i needed to know her.

My long walk home finally ended and i had never been so happy to get home in my life .That was until i opened the front door.
I was met by my dad but his face was different it wasn't full of love and joy instead it was full of disgust and hate "go to the kitchen"he grumbled as he slammed the front door shut behind me
I walked into the kitchen to be met with my mother sitting at the table holding some sort of book.
"sit" my dad grumbled as he entered the room
I did as i was told and that's when it dawned on me , my mother was holding my diary , they read it . They know.
"Lexi Grace Cooper we raised you better than this. We do not have a gay daughter" my father started coldly venom lacing every word.
"YOU ARE A DISGRACE TO THIS FAMILY TO THIS COMMUNITY TO EVERYONE" he began shouting as my mother sat back and enjoyed the show. The man that i loved with all my heart turned on me because of one simple detail. i'm his daughter he should love me no matter what
"daddy i'm still lexi , i'm still me . nothing has to chang-"
"YOU STUPID STUPID GIRL EVERYTHING HAS CHANGED I CANT EVEN LOOK AT YOU , YOU DISGUST ME . GO TO YOUR ROOM"
without any hesitation i got up and ran to my room hoping that they didn't see the tears pooling down my face.
isn't it amazing how a great day can turn upside down in a matter of minutes , how people who have loved me all their life can now look at me like i'm a piece of trash on the ground.
