The next few days flew by in a whirlwind of commitments and responsibilities. Sam and Daniel's schedules were jam-packed, and they only managed to sneak in a couple of brief moments together in between meetings. Despite the chaos, they continued to stay in touch through text messages, phone calls, and video chats. Each conversation left them feeling more connected and committed than before.
Before the final day of the meetings started, Sam and Daniel met up for a quick coffee before they started their day. Seeing she had arrived before him, a gentle smile tugs at the corners of his lips, and he approaches. "Good morning," he murmurs, his voice still laced with sleep. "Hey, good morning. I ordered your favorite already," she replies softly, as he kisses her cheek and sits down next to her. "Thanks. How are you doing this morning?" he asks. Taking a deep breath, she looks down at her hands in her lap.
Daniel must have sensed her unease because he reached into her lap, covering her hand with his own. "Hey, what's wrong?" he asked, his voice gentle.
Sam took a deep breath, letting the emotions wash over her. "I'm just feeling apprehensive about leaving," she admitted. "I know we promised to make time for each other, but I still worry that it won't be enough. That we'll drift apart once we're back in our regular lives."
With a soft and understanding gaze, Daniel gently squeezed Sam's hand and spoke, "I know exactly how you feel. But let me remind you: before anything romantic happened between us, we were and are friends first. Our history and relationship span beyond that of romantic partners. But I firmly believe that if we're both committed to making this work, we can."
Sam nodded, feeling a small sense of relief. She knew he was right, but it was still hard not to worry about the future. "I just don't want to lose you," she whispered. Daniel leaned across the table, placing a soft kiss on her forehead. "You won't," he said firmly. "I promise."
As they parted ways that afternoon, Sam felt a renewed sense of hope and determination. She was committed to making this work, no matter what. And she knew that she had found someone who was just as invested as she was.
The next few days passed in a blur, and before she knew it, Sam was boarding her flight back to LA. As she settled into her seat, she took out her phone and sent a quick text to Daniel.
SL: I just wanted to say thank you again for an amazing 2 weeks. I'll text you when I make it home. 😊
As the plane took off, Sam felt a mix of sadness and excitement. This was the start of a new chapter in her life, and she knew that whatever lay ahead, she was ready to face it. She closed her eyes, replaying all the moments that she had shared with Daniel, and smiled to herself. No matter what happened next, she would always treasure this trip in New York. And the whirlwind romance that had started within the confines of a bubble would now continue in the outside world, where anything and everything was possible.
A few weeks had passed since Sam returned to Los Angeles, and though she and Daniel remained in constant contact, they were both caught up in their respective busy lives. Sam threw herself into focusing on her mental health, getting back into dance, and finally getting to take her van out to the beach to catch the sunset. Despite the physical distance between them, they continued to support each other from afar, their bond growing stronger with each passing day.
One evening, as Sam was fixing dinner, she received a surprise FaceTime call from Daniel. Excitement coursed through her veins as she accepted the call, and his familiar face filled the screen.
"Hey, you!" Sam greeted him, her voice filled with affection. "Hey, beautiful," Daniel replied, a mischievous smile dancing on his lips. "I have a surprise for you." Curiosity piqued, Sam leaned in closer to the screen. "Oh? What is it?" Daniel's eyes sparkled with excitement. "How would you like to go on a vacation with me?"
Sam's heart skipped a beat. "A vacation? Wow, definitely not what I expected him to say." It sounded thrilling and romantic, and she couldn't help but feel a surge of anticipation. "Tell me more," she urged, unable to contain her excitement.
Daniel explained that he had planned a getaway to Jamaica, a secluded paradise tucked away from prying eyes. He had booked a private beach house that backed into its own spring, and the thought of spending uninterrupted time together in such a breathtaking setting sent waves of joy through Sam. Without hesitation, she agreed, "Absolutely. Perfect timing before filming picks back up. When do we leave? More importantly, how are we going to do this without anyone getting wind of this?" Daniel smiled and said, "I got you. Don't worry." They meticulously planned every detail, from coordinating their schedules to ensuring their absence wouldn't raise suspicions.
Finally, the day of their departure arrived. Sam couldn't help but feel a sense of exhilaration and nervousness as she boarded the plane, knowing that this adventure would be a pivotal moment in their relationship. For her, she wanted them to decide if they were going to go public before Season 5 got underway or wait to see if this relationship could last outside of New York. Upon landing in Jamaica, they were greeted by warm tropical breezes and the vibrant colors of the island. Their private oasis exceeded all expectations, boasting a spacious balcony, a luxurious pool, and an awesome trail to a scenic spring with a waterfall.
Days turned into nights as Sam and Daniel lost themselves in a whirlwind of sun-soaked adventures and intimate moments. They explored hidden coves, swam in secluded waterfalls, and strolled hand in hand along pristine white beaches. Each experience deepened their connection, allowing them to discover new facets of each other's personalities. But it was during the quiet moments, beneath a starlit sky or in the embrace of a hammock, that's where Sam and Daniel truly thrived.
As the sun set on their final evening in Jamaica, they sat side by side on the beach, listening to the sound of waves lapping at the shore. The moment was bittersweet, knowing that soon they would return to the reality of their lives.
"I wish we could stay here forever," Sam whispered, her voice filled with longing. She wanted to broach the subject that had been weighing on her mind. "So I know it was originally my decision to keep this just between us because of our careers, but I was wondering how you would feel if we were open about it before filming restarted?"
Daniel turned to her, his eyes tender. "I know we both like our privacy, so once we do this, there will be so much scrutiny and even more rumors going around that we will have to face." Taking a pause, he reaches over to bring her into his lap, giving her a quick peck on the lips. "But you know what? All of that is worth it if it means we can continue to build on this. We can just start small and then go from there."
Hugging her arms around his neck, she pulled him closer as the tears began to prickle at the corners of her eyes. "Are you sure?" Daniel nods his head, placing his hands on her cheeks, "Definitely." They leaned in, their lips meeting in a tender kiss, sealing their decision amidst the backdrop of a Jamaican paradise. In that moment, they made a promise to each other — to cherish this getaway as a sacred memory and to try and carry its essence with them as they stepped back into their everyday lives.
As their vacation came to an end, Sam and Daniel returned to Los Angeles with a newfound sense of purpose. They knew that the journey ahead wouldn't be easy, with the demands of the show and the pressures of being able to keep their privacy, but they were determined to make their relationship endure.
