(This is the most realistic take on this movie for our friend group, there aren't any changes, other than changes to certain backstories to compliment the book.)
"Mmm" Andrew groaned, groggily reaching over to his bedside table to check the time. His fingers stumbled on his phone, eyes adjusting to the wake of the artificial light. The clock read 17:02, though this was seen with blurry vision as his eyes were temporarily hindered due to his sudden wake.
"Oh- fuck, I gotta get ready..." Andrew groaned this, reluctant to leave the warmth of his duvet. He sighed, before pushing the covers off, embracing the mixture of the summer and winter feeling dancing on the goosebumps on his skin.
Andrew sloppily moved around his room, gathering the 'essentials' for his departure towards a house party that he was invited to. Though his all-nighters would never treat him fairly on a day where he would have plans.
"Where did I put my-" Andrew said, before he eyed his prize. He was searching for his vape, though he thought it would have ran out by now.
"I should get a new one before going, they're gonna wanna nick my vape." He said to himself, planning his next plan before arriving at the party.
He dressed himself in a clean white t-shirt with a green flannel and a new pair of grey jogging bottoms for comfort. Spending about twenty minutes styling his hair, to ensure that his friends wouldn't worry about him going into a mental state.
Andrew would be home alone during this time, as his sister was in her final exams of University, whilst his mother did not live with him. His dad would be at work, as per usual on a Saturday night - he would have the entire house to himself. Whilst he didn't prefer to leave the house on weekends, he decided he hadn't seen his 'Broughton Astley mates' as he would call them, in a while.
"Okay, now what else do I need to bring..." He trailed his finger along his chin, searching across his state of a room. He glanced at the vape, his keys, his AirPods and finally, his phone.
"Oh shi- I should bring some Vaseli-" Before he was cut off by the faint buzzing of his mobile. He arched his brow, as he never usually got calls but regardless, they weren't impossible.
Andrew took a glance at the screen... 'No Caller ID'.
"Hello?" Andrew said, with a slight remark of a question dotted within his tone.
"Hello, is Christina home by any chance?" A deep voice on the other end spoke this, their pitch sending shivers down Andrews spine.
"Hm? Um- who is this?" Andrew probed, thinking it was strange that they were calling his phone to ask for his sister?
"It's one of her friends, from her accommodation." The voice replied, wavering a sense of confidence.
"And how would you have my number?" Andrew pushed, thinking this seemed like a joke.
"I guess you could say that I am a great detective." The voice replied, seemingly sly with the tone.
"Clearly, well Christina isn't home and I have stuff to do so goodbye!" He said, quick with his words almost as if he was nervous.
"Hold on just a moment-" The voice replied before Andrew could hit the end call button.
"Me and Christina were planning to watch a horror movie tonight, any recommendations?" The voice now said, seemingly innocent yet guilty at the same time.
"Um... I don't know. I watched Evil Dead Rise earlier- that's pretty good but she's already seen that."
"That's a shame, I'm sure you have more... options." The voice replied, their tone getting more 'serious'.
