-One Year Later

Carlo stood nervously in front of Mrs. Luna, determined to ask for her blessing to marry Joy. The room was filled with tension, as Mrs. Luna's disapproval of their relationship had only grown stronger over time.

Carlo: (taking a deep breath) "Mrs. Luna, I love Joy with all my heart, and I want to spend the rest of my life with her. I'm here to ask for your blessing to marry her."

Mrs. Luna: (eyes narrowed) "You? Marry my daughter? Don't make me laugh, Carlo. What could you possibly offer her?"

Carlo: (defensively) "I may not have the same wealth or status as your family, but I love Joy unconditionally. I will always support and care for her."

Mrs. Luna: (mockingly) "Support? Care? Is that what a struggling artist like you can offer? Joy deserves better, someone who can give her a comfortable life, not a life filled with uncertainty."

Carlo felt his heart sink as Mrs. Luna's words cut deep into his soul. He had hoped for a glimmer of understanding, a chance to prove his worth, but her words only fueled the fire of doubt within him.

Carlo: (holding back tears) "I understand your concerns, Mrs. Luna. But love is not about material possessions. It's about building a life together based on trust, respect, and genuine happiness. I may not have it all now, but I'm determined to work hard and provide for Joy."

Mrs. Luna: (angrily) "Your determination won't put food on the table, Carlo! I won't allow my daughter to suffer because of your foolish dreams. If you truly love her, you will let her go."

Carlo's heart sank further as Mrs. Luna's words echoed in his ears. He couldn't bear the thought of losing Joy, but he also couldn't ignore the pain of knowing that he was being perceived as inadequate.

Carlo: (resigned) "Mrs. Luna, I understand your concerns, and I respect your decision. But please know that my love for Joy is unwavering. I hope that one day, you can see beyond material wealth and see the love and happiness we share."

Mrs. Luna: (coldly) "Love and happiness won't pay the bills, Carlo. Remember that."

With those final words, Mrs. Luna turned her back on Carlo, leaving him standing there, shattered and defeated.

Scene Nine:

Joy sat in her room, torn between her love for Carlo and her deep-rooted sense of familial duty. Her heart ached as she thought about the ultimatum given by her mother.

Joy: (whispering to herself) "How can I choose between the man I love and my family? I never thought it would come to this."

Tears streamed down Joy's face as she contemplated the difficult decision before her. She loved Carlo with all her heart, but she also cherished her family and the bond they shared.

Joy: (voice trembling) "Carlo... I don't want to lose you, but I can't bear the thought of losing my family either. What should I do?"

Her mind was filled with conflicting thoughts, Joy knew that whatever choice she made, there would be heartbreak. She longed for a solution that would allow her to have both love and family, but it seemed impossible.

Joy: (whispering softly) "Carlo, please understand. I need time to figure things out. I don't want to lose you, but I also don't want to lose my family."

As the weight of her decision settled upon her shoulders, Joy knew that the road ahead would be filled with challenges and sacrifices. She would have to find a way to navigate through the storm, hoping that love and understanding would prevail.
