chapter five

After good 2-3 minutes, wei ying was finally about to pull himself away, but lan zhan pulled away first. Without wasting a single second, wei ying got up and ran to his room like hungry demons from hell were after him. The boy almost tumbled while running but nothing could stop him right now. His heart was beating like a drum. He entered his room and locked the door before letting his shaky legs put him to the floor. After few minutes, he slowly got up and looked at his face in the mirror and seeing his own lips plump from being kissed so hard, his cheeks started tinting red without his permission.

The next morning when he woke up, the scenes from last night immediately registered themselves in wei ying's mind.

His face was starting to turn crimson. Today he had a dream and he saw himself as a rabbit, sitting on the dinning table.

There were lots of lettuce pieces scattered here and there on the table and wei ying was happily munching on them.

But then another rabbit, with a rude face, starting running towards him from the other end of the table. His whiskers were longer and ear were sharply standing on his head, unlike wei ying's whose whiskers were smaller and ears were cutely resting downwards on his rabbit face.

Wei ying was running at full speed, and then he hopped off the table and so did the other rabbit behind him.

After a good episode of chasing and seeking, wei ying hopped in a bin, by mistake and got trapped. The other rabbit also hopped in and wei ying was now scared of what he'd do and where he'd go.

He was ready for a leg fight, but the other rabbit pulled out a lettuce from his mouth, which was stuffed in his cheek and offered to wei ying.

Wei ying shyly took it and smelled it, it seemed fresh and so started munching on it.

Rabbit-friendship was established. He ate half, and offered the rest to the second rabbit. The second rabbit, who was keenly looking at him came closer and started grooming wei ying's whiskers, and slowly he came closer. Wei ying liked being groomed.

He started munching on the piece remaining in his hand, and the second rabbit suddenly kissed wei ying.

That's when wei ying woke up out of pure shock. He knew exactly who this second rabbit was in his dream.

He decided to pretend like nothing happened, and moved out of the room with his nose held high. But his façade didn't last long.

Lan zhan was cooking something for both of them and he looked beautiful handling the stove and cleaning the slab. His hands looked so pretty while chopping, and the same hands last night.. wei ying's ears started tinting red again.

"Wei Ying" lan zhan called him out.

Wei ying immediately looked away, pretending to walk back into his room. Lan zhan ran out of the kitchen, and called out again, "Wei Ying, I need your help." Wei ying stopped this time.

Calming his beating heart, he turned back to lan zhan. "Come with me." Lan zhan said and walked back into the kitchen. Wei ying followed the younger.

"Get some lettuce and carrot from the refrigerator." Lan zhan asked and wei ying (eyes widening for a second) complied.

He brought the veges, washed them and asked, "How?" and lan zhan replied, "thin-long pieces" and wei ying started chopping standing next to lan zhan who was adding herbs to the dish. After chopping, he offered the bowl to lan zhan who instead of the bowl grabbed wei ying's other hand and started walking to his own room.

Till the very day, wei ying had never seen lan zhan's room, it was actually a rule that wei ying cannot enter lan zhan's room. But now lan zhan himself opened the door and started walking in, holding wei ying's hand in his one hand.

Wei ying was too blown away by last night's actions (and the recent dream) that he almost concluded that lan zhan had gone crazy due to the separation from his dream, figure skating, and his actions were simply not sensible.

Wei ying couldn't help but notice that lan zhan's room was more than twice the size of his own room. There was a glass door opening into a garden with lots of plants and two rabbits hopping around with sky blue ribbons tied around their ears.

lan zhan sat down on the floor, pulling wei ying to sit next to him. wei ying sat down next to lan zhan silently.

lan zhan then pointed with his eyes towards the bowl full of vegetables and wei ying understood. He kept the bowl in front of himself and picked a carrot piece in his hand and showed it to the rabbits.

Both rabbits happily bounced on lan zhan's lap but didn't want to go to wei ying. They were looking at lan zhan, almost asking for their master's approval.

Lan zhan took a piece from the bowl and started feeding the rabbits. "They only like you." Wei ying said in a complaining manner, to which lan zhan replied, "Because they have never met anyone else."

Wei ying didn't know how to respond to that. "What about your ex-roommate?" Wei ying asked.

Lan zhan replied, "No one ever stayed more than 3-4 days." Lan zhan looked at Wei ying who understood the situation.

The rules were hard too deal with for regular folks. "Why are you showing them to me?" Wei ying asked very softly, as his heart warmed.

Lan zhan replied, "Because I want you to take care of them while I'm gone."

"Where are you going?" Wei ying asked sounding worried.

Lan zhan replied with a small invisible smile, "To represent the country in Nationals."

Wei ying's eyes widened and jaw dropped. He rushed in and hugged lan zhan, and the younger hugged back. "Congratulations! Congratulations, Lan Zhan!! I'm so happy for you!" Feeling lan zhan's hands tightening around himself, wei ying awkwardly pulled back, but lan zhan was too slow to retreat his fingers lingering on wei ying's waist.

wei ying happily bent closer to the rabbits and started petting them fondly, "Your master is going to follow his dreams! You both must congratulate him!"

2 more months passed, lan zhan was awarded the 2nd position in the National Competition. wei ying would watch the entire thing live to see lan zhan's performance.

not to mention how his mouth dried while watching lan zhan dance on ice, wearing a sleek red shiny dress, exposing the most of his brilliant chest.

wei ying took care of the rabbits and found himself lingering in lan zhan's room more than required.

the whole room reeked of lan zhan and something about it was very satisfying to wei ying. Days were passing by quickly and wei ying was getting more and more comfortable being around lan zhan.

"come out quickly, I've made the tea!" Lan zhan called out to Wei ying who hadn't stepped out of his room all day. "I can't. You leave it on the table, I'll take it from there." Wei ying replied.

"Wei Ying what's the problem, you haven't stepped out at all today."

wei ying replied after some time in a timid voice, "I did all my laundry today and I have no clothes to wear." lan zhan brought his own clothes and knocked at wei ying's door, "You can wear mine today, just come out quickly."

'What happened to the Rule- "You are not allowed to wear/touch my belongings." Lan zhan?'

when wei ying opened the door, he was wearing nothing but a towel around his waist. He quickly stole clothes from lan zhan's hands and shut the door on the younger's face. Thankfully he shut it in time because lan zhan's expressions sure didn't seem very friendly when he was exposed to wei ying in such a state. Wei ying was reminded of how angry lan zhan became when he first wore his slippers and now the same man was offering his clothes to him.

wei ying's heart was beating so fast, he could compete with the wind, or a train leaving the station, or a deer running towards his mate.

wei ying came out of the room, white shirt spilling over his one shoulder and pajamas too long, absorbing his feet within them. But to lan zhan, he looked extremely adorable. they both had tea in silence, rabbits hopping around in the living room and lan zhan absorbing Wei ying's cute attire. It was surely a good day.
