JULIAN
It was in front of me. Now that I've been planning of getting in to this palace, it feels like a vivid dream and still I am fascinated how this castle holds more mysteries than the people of this kingdom have ever heard about but I'm getting steps closer to it day by day and finally now, here's my chance to get in. I'm quite sure I won't be able to make the most out of this one visit of mine which is why I would need to ensure a place for me in this palace. However, I'm quite certain I could find some clues about the young princess today.
The celebration is in the court hall which means most of the royals would be far off from their suites which are basically above the hall. I will definitely be able gather myself one chance at least.
"Julian." I looked over my shoulder and it was Heron, "here, let me". He took over the control of the carriage and I slided towards the left of the seat as I handed him over the reins. I finally looked back to Catherine and Elora and to my surprise both of them were chatting happily, must be about their dresses or something. It's been a while since I saw them getting so well together but probably it was related to Elora being adopted. It must have been hard for them to accept the truth. I couldn't imagine how would I feel if I found out Heron was adopted.
"Someone seems overly excited for today." I tried teasing Elora, wondering how she'll react now, I've already embarrassed her before we begun the ride. She heard me and i could see red creeping onto her face.
"No, I'm not excited. I'm nervous." Catherine answered with the outmost sincerity and I looked at her in confusion before realizing why.
"Shit, I almost forgot about our performance." The words came out of my mouth as I thought about it. My mind was so consumed in the hidden secrets of this castle.
"What's wrong Jules? You seem somewhat off." I looked at Heron in anticipation but he didn't correct my name. I told him already not to call me that today but at least he's not telling them stories about how I wet my beddings when I was younger.
"Nothing. I was just remembering the stories we heard about the castle." I said in a low tone.
"Oh, not again!" I turned back to see Elora's fed up face. I wonder if she was even listening to me in the first place. But the look on her face made me chuckle.
"Aw, poor Elora already seems tired of me." She rolled her eyes at that which gave me the confirmation I didn't need but it made me smile a bit. She's too easy to annoy.
"You said we. Who's the other person?" Aha, Catherine seems more interested.
"Me and Heron. Our grandfather was one of the personal guards of King Elrod and he used to tell us stories about the castle and people when we were younger."
"Made up stories." He added. "I figure you could use some correction."
"Come on Heron, you know they were true."
"What makes you so sure, then?"
"I.. look I just know for a fact that everything he told us was not a lie. How do you even think the.."
"Hey stop, listen." Catherine spoke up. "I'm sorry to interrupt your super serious conversation but look ahead were up next."
I hadn't noticed that we were at the entrance to the palace. Heron moved the carriage towards the guards as he inquired, "Do you think she was taunting us?"
"Ofcourse, she was." He shook his head in disbelief as I replied. It was kind of funny watching him act like that.
The guards checked our belongings and the letter we had received from the organizers. It was basically an approval to perform today but it didn't have the names of Elora and Heron. But I was hoping he would let us in without questioning further. There were around eight guards at the main entrance of the castle but I wonder if it's the same on regular days though.
