Not long passed before you came out of Evan's room. You yawned and slumped on the couch.
Michael was up, and he looked at you.
"Well, you look like shit." He said.
"Hah! I know.." You mumbled and closed your eyes. "I hardly slept."
"Oh. That sucks." Michael looked at the book he was reading.
"Mhm.." You sighed and looked over, "What're you reading?"
"The Long Walk, by Stephan King. It came out four years ago." Michael shrugged and closed the book over a finger and looked at you.
"Oh, I haven't read it." You replied.
"You can read it after I finish it. I'll put it in your room when I do."
"Sounds good..." You paused before asking, "Hey, you okay?"
Michael laughed, "No fucking clue what that means anymore! So no, not really. You?"
"Honestly, about the same here. Ever since the crash everything has been mostly downhill, a couple of good things here and there but other wise." You blew a raspberry and held a thumbs down in the air.
Michael hummed in acknowledgement then went back to his book.
"Life is shit, and it always has been, always will be." Michael said before turning a page.
You just nodded in acknowledgement before standing and going to the kitchen. You opened the door to the fridge and poured a glass of milk.
Staring off into space, you slowly drank the glass of milk. Tuning into memories.

"Y/N! Get down from there!" A younger version of Alex shouted at you.
"No!! I rule the trees!" A younger you laughed and climbed higher.

"It's not that hard kiddo, just moved your feet like you're walking." An image of your dad said, holding both of your arms and on an ice skate rink.
"I'm gonna fall!" You cried out as you slipped and your dad caught you.
"No you won't, just steady yourself first. Okay?"
You took a deep breath, "Okay.." then slowly steadied yourself.
A few minutes later you were skating around her fine, and having fun. An hour passes and your dad stepped off the rink.
"Y/N, common, we gotta go home now."
"What? Already?" You almost whined as you went to your dad and got off the rink.
"Yeah, it's been almost 2 hours since we got here."
"That first hour was me slipping around." You complained.
"We can come back another day." Your dad ruffled your hair, "Common, your mother is probably home now."

You walked through town with a friend. He and you were headed home from an arcade and talking about new high scores you guys had made. Then it randomly started pouring.
"SHIT!" Your friend shouted, "I gotta run! See ya!" He then started to run off and slipped on a patch of mud a little ahead of you.
You burst into laughter, "Watch out for mud puddles, Allan!" Then you headed home yourself.

"I raise ten." Said one of your friends and thew in a blue chip.
"Fold." Allan said an placed his cards down.
"Yeah, fold." Said another.
"Y'all are pussies. I call!" Said Alex, ten threw in a ten.
You acted unsure for a moment, then looked at your cards.
"You gonna back down Y/N?" Said the first one with a smug grin.
You looked at him then Alex, "I think you two are bluffing. I call." You tossed in a ten.
"Don't cry when you lose!" Alex said.
"Oh really? Everyone has either called or folded. James, show what made you bet that high." You looked at James calmly.
James hesitated, "Well Fuck." He showed his cards and had a single pair.
"Hah!! Suck it!" Alex showed a full house.
"Damnit!" James whacked the table.
You started laughing.
"What's so funny Y/N? I'm gonna win!" Alex attempted to call you out.
"Oh really?" You grinned and your eyes filled with pride. In that moment you watched Alex notice he lost.
You then showed a queen high straight-flush. "Boom."
The other two erupted in laughter. "Alex thought!!" They sad together.
James sighed, "damn, I'd say you cheated but I delt the cards-"
"Damn right." You took the chips.
"You guys better be glad we aren't betting real money." Said the second one who folded.
"Shut up Vincent!" Alex grumbled.

"-N, Y/N!" Michael snapped his fingers in your face and you looked over.
"Huh?" You said calmly.
"You're in the way of the fridge, can you move?" Michael crossed his arms.
"Oh. Uh. Yeah sorry." You mumbled before walking away from the fridge.
"What were you thinking about?" Michael asked as he opened the fridge.
"Hm?"
"You looked deep in thought." He stated.
"Oh. I was just zoned out." You placed your glass on the counter and walked off.
Walking outside, you looked around and sighed. You wondered how your old friend group was, and if Alex told them anything of Michael's friends and how you are. Probably not, that doesn't seem like something Alex would do. But you never knew what that boy would do next. So maybe.
