Nabi and Hendery had agreed to hang out. They walked around the city, admiring different things. Hendery recommended that they go find an ice cream place nearby and Nabi nodded in agreement. They walked around, talking about different subjects. Nabi felt very warm around Hendery. He was a comforting person to be around. She felt like she could trust him with the world.
They soon arrived at a small ice cream shop. Hendery held the door open for Nabi as she walked inside. She admired all the tiny little details in the shop as Hendery guided her towards the counter.
"So what do you want? I'll pay for it."
Nabi had to think for a second. It didn't take her long to come to a conclusion.
"Just a strawberry sundae!"
Hendery smirked and repeated her order to the worker. Nabi looked at him confusion, wondering why his facial expression had changed so suddenly. She grabbed his arm to turn him around towards her.
"Why did you smirk?"
"I just knew you'd want a strawberry sundae."
Nabi was confused. She had never once told Hendery that she liked strawberry sundaes nor strawberries in general. She slowly blinked as she waited for him to respond.
"I guess I can read lips."
Everything that Hendery was saying sounded like gibberish to Nabi. What was he talking about? What did he mean by he could read lips. None of it was making sense.
"What do you mean by that?"
Hendery took a second to think. He knew his response, but he had no intention to say it right away. He smiled and looked directly into her eyes.
"Your lips. They seem like they'd taste like a strawberry sundae. Addictive, you know?"
Nabi was in shock. She had never once gotten told that her lips taste like anything remotely close to a strawberry sundae. Her face was flushed as she quickly made her way out the door, and waited in front of the shop.
"Wait you forgot your ice cream!"
Nabi pulled out her phone to see a series of messages from one of her closest friends. She scrolled through the messages, disappointment spreading all over her face.
