"I need a change father!" exclaimed Roland. His father replied, "My son, do you not understand? You are at age -"
"No father, how can I put into action something I have no comprehension of?" They argued.
"Words cannot describe-" "Well then I refuse..." "You shall be called a disgrace to the family! I will not allow this!" "What shall you do about it? Torture me?" He questioned... They dramatically paused. His father was in deep thought about what would happen to him if the villagers found out. "If you do not comply to what is needed"
"Maybe I am not ready to marry nor raise a family. I want freedom and out of this castle."
"Bloody-..." He paused in mid sentence... He understood his son with an empathetic heart but did not want to appear as a incompetent king. "I... Understand that son... But do you not understand what will happen to you? "I don't care all that much father- I'd rather run away than have responsibilities. Especially with controlling something so large and nonnegotiable." His father stopped talking - he knew his son was true but refused to accept reality.
The son started walking away dramatically. The father was about to open his mouth, but he decided that was not an option. His son's refusal wasn't necessary, even though he made a valid point. All I'm asking for is you to listen, my son... was all the King was thinking, reimagining the previous conversation he had with his son.
With that, the prince made his way to the stables, where his Clydesdale dwells. The trusty steed was quite beautiful; tan in colour and soft in texture. His beautiful green eyes could be easily seen in the direct lighting of the sun. He has a white snout that looked like he had someone splash paint on him.
"Alrighty noble steed, where shall we venture off to today?" Roland said merrily, trying to clear his head of what was asked of him... But his memories haunted him.
"I don't understand father... why was he making such a request?" He asked the horse. "I understand "Son, I am aging and will not be able to continue being king, I need you to marry and take over", but how can I fulfill such a request? I mean, just observe me! I cannot handle such things..." He continued venting to his innocent horse... "I'm just so struck by this request... I do not know how to succeed in it."
He looked into the Clydesdale's large eyes... "and I have just become aware to the fact that I am having a conversation with a Clydesdale..." he then chuckled at his observation. He then saddled up the horse and trotted into the forest to get food and take a break from the castle living. Thinking about how his 17 year old self was supposed to marry and rule the land sounded almost impossible for himself to handle.
His mind was wandering as he was riding his horse through the forest. He suddenly hearing a quick snap of a branch, his mind suddenly stopped thinking about his fathers words and made awkward eye contact with a maiden wearing a dark cloak.
She had dark brown wavy hair, and brown eyes that sparkled in the sunlight... the prince wasn't thinking anything else other than who she was. All she was thinking about was getting out of there to avoid starting a confrontation. She knew she was making eye contact with someone she shouldn't be. Roland had a different mindset than her when it came to communication with someone withing and outside of castle grounds. They were looking at each other for several seconds, she suddenly took off... "Wait- m'lady!" He yelled.
She went back to the town square without a second thought, she did not want to make contact with the young man she had glanced upon whilst looking for a simple place to hunt in peace. She was hiding behind a barrel when she noticed people in the square arguing and fighting. A mediator was in the middle of the square... "People, we must consider the circumstances! We know that thy prince has denied the request of us, but bickering about it is getting us no where!" he declared. "WE MUST TAKE ACTION!" A women exclaimed, "WE MUST FIND THE PRINCE!" a man yelled.
Was the young man I came across -while I was hunting- the prince? she thought... She had mixed emotions about the situation... in awe that she made eye contact with him, but also scared that the village was going after him... I must find him...
She now was aware as to where the forest was... so she knew where the castle was located. Why couldn't she warn him?
"HOW COULD THE KING ALLOW THIS!" Another yelled. "HE IS NOT AWARE OF OUR TOWN'S DESTRUCTION!" What is this bickering all about? She thought. "HE DOESN'T WANT UNITY OF THE NORTH AND SOUTH!" Random yelling was being shout out of nowhere... and more and more kept on being added to the conversation being dispersed among them. They all settled on the agreement to go after the king - after all, he didn't do anything without the public's consent.
After the people left, the woman went up to a villager and asked what happened during the debate. She explained, "There is a northern side of the country that would like to battle, but they said they would not if the prince were to marry the princess of the north side. The king has issued a statement that his son refuses to marry and instead prefer to fight in the battle. He would like to attend to the duties of being a knight rather than rule a kingdom." Of course... The young maiden thought. She could relate to his state of mind. He is only a young man who wants to defend and protect instead of Collaborating and compromising. The same reasons why I left- "Alright. Thanks for the information. I shall be on my way." She nodded farewell.
