A/N: This is my new story. It was inspired by a Tumblr post someone sent to me and I've wanted to write it for a while. So... here it is! Enjoy!
Something wasn't right.
The boy washed his face and ruffled his hair before looking at his reflection in the mirror. His brown hair was a mess, but that was his usual look anyway, and his green eyes just weren't hiding how tired he was.
He had trouble getting some sleep the previous night and it wasn't just because he had spent the weekend celebrating his birthday or because he was stressed out about the coming exams. There was something he couldn't quite explain.
He put on a red plaid shirt over his t-shirt and ruffled his hair once again before walking into the hallway and down the stairs.
"Cam! Breakfast is ready! Hurry up, kiddo!" a voice called him just when he reached the bottom of the stairs, and he rolled his eyes.
He loved his family but they loved to give him lots of nicknames. After 18 years of nicknames, he had already lost count of how many he had.
"I'm here." He said, entering the kitchen and smiling at the familiar scene before his eyes.
Cameron Jauregui-Cabello could use a lot of words to describe his family but if you asked him to choose just one, he would say 'unique'.
Not because he had two mothers. No. Those kinds of families weren't even uncommon anymore. It was the relationship between them that made his family so special.
His mom was a successful writer and psychologist, which meant she was usually concerned about the discipline and order. Lauren Jauregui was known as a woman with a strong, bossy personality, but her family was her weakness and she managed to relax a lot around them. Cameron loved to practice sports with her, since she had been a softball player when she was younger. He also looked a lot like his mom, but that was pretty much where their similarities ended.
Cameron was often told he and his mom were so much alike, but he felt his personality was a lot like his other mother. Camila Cabello, mama for her kids, was the perfect contrast to her wife's serious, feisty personality. Although she was now a well-known music producer and songwriter, she always kept a carefree, childlike personality, smiling and making jokes. She was also really good at embarrassing Cameron in front of his friends by calling him all sorts of names.
But Cameron didn't mind. He was used to his family and anyway, people knew more about him and his family than one would expect. The reason behind this was that his mothers had been, many years ago, part of the biggest girl group of all time. Fifth Harmony.
So, people knew about them and their story and their family. No matter how hard they had tried to have a quiet life to raise Cameron when he was born, their success was something they would never get rid of completely.
"Zoe, stop making a mess." Camila pouted at the 3-year-old baby, "Mama will have to clean up everything."
"Cam!" Zoe yelled, excited to see her big brother.
"Hey mom, hey ma," Cameron sat at the table and grabbed the box of cereal, "Hey, Zoe."
"Honey, I have a meeting today, so your mama is taking Zoe with her to the studio the whole day, okay?" Lauren informed while checking her phone.
"Sure."
Cameron usually picked up her sister from Camila's studio and took her home, where Lauren usually worked, but he was glad he didn't have to do it that day because he had plans after school.
"Is it okay if I go see Professor Daniels after school? I need some help with a project."
Professor Daniels was a scientist who worked as a teacher in a university. He was a family friend and Cameron loved visiting him because his place was always full of crazy gadgets and nonsense. And he was in his late forties but he was single, so he enjoyed the visits of the young boy that he had known since he was a baby.
