This weekend was supposed to be spent at Y/N's apartment, staying in, playing video games and ordering pizza like high school boys. But before it could begin, their plans changed.
There was a light mint late afternoon sky set between peach clouds on the horizon and warm street lights flickering one after another. In the slight moving breeze, the leaves and the loose strands of hair of a young man danced as the man waited outside the local coffee shop in town. Between steady sips of his coffee with 2 sugars, his eyes darted across the passing people on the concrete sidewalk. "Looking for us?" The man's elder brother inquired in a sweet tone as he approached in an olive green trench coat, closely followed by his friend dressed in grey. "Dann, You look better dressed than when you go out with your girlfriend." The younger complimented with a smile. "Cause he wants to get with a ghost", A reply came from Dann's friend, Mujin, as he stepped over to stand beside the younger of the two. Dann shook his head in disapproval despite knowing that the comment was true. "Let's just go. Honestly, I wanna get home as soon as I can", Dann's complaint prompted the younger 2 to follow him.
The 2 storey house was abandoned, with wild purple flowers, overgrown weeds and broken windows. White paint chipped off the wooden planks, and vines climbed every corner. Dann slowly opened the rusted gate, gazing at the others as he did so. "Is this a good idea? I've heard stories of people getting murdered in this place." The eldest mumbled lowly as the fallen leaves and sticks crunched beneath his boots. "We already agreed to do this. Stop being such a baby." Y/N shook his head while he conveyed as he pushed his elder brother towards the house's front entrance with Mujin's help. "I'm sorry, I'd rather still have a life after this" Dann rolled his eyes in annoyance as he answered back. Despite his stomach turning in fear, Dann knew he could not stop his brother and friend from dragging him into this mess.
The door creaked open slowly, sending chills throughout their spines. In the entryway alone, the room was filled with a creepy atmosphere. Antique paintings adorned the clawed wallpaper that appeared over centuries old. The white wooden staircase was missing a few steps but left with the red velvet runner draped across the railing. No light came from the home, forcing the 3 boys to turn on the flashlights they had pocketed earlier. "Y/N, can I hold your hand?" Mujin inquired with a now fearful tone. "If you hold my hand, that means you're gay. Are you gay?" Y/N responded with a slight smile while slowly closing the door behind them. "For you, yes," Mujin replied in a flirty manner. "If you both continue, I'm feeding you to the devil", Dann butted in. His voice was filled with an irritated tone.
Progressing more profoundly into the house, Y/N's hand finally found Mujin's in fear. Candles beginning to burn, and the floorboards creaking from the staircase were only a few things encountered by the 3 already. "Should we start a haunted explorer youtube channel? like Dora the explorer but Dora exploring not-so-good happy places." Y/N suggested as their next mission was ascending the potentially dangerous staircase that led to the other areas of this mysterious place. A figure dark as night appeared at the top of the stairs, and all the boys could see was it coming towards them before everything turned black and screams of people echoed throughout the place.
