he was there, standing next to me. i could feel his hand holding mine with great delicacy.

we were both gazing up at the star-studded sky, as if waiting for something to happen.
it was then that fireworks appeared.  the noise made had the gift of making us jump, me and my partner. we, then, squeezed each other's hand.

i turned my head in his direction before noticing discreet tears rolling down his cheeks reddened by the winter cold.
he, also, turned his head in my direction, giving me a warm little smile. he then took me in his arms, hugging me tightly against him.

the next twenty seconds were just peaceful silence. all we could hear was the spectacle of the fireworks.

that's when my partner let go of me suddenly, before plunging his gaze into mine.

– "i love you." was the last sentence his lips had uttered, before my alarm clock began to ring.
