*close up of the back of a swivel chair, a spotlight boring down on it*
Reader (aka You): Um...hello?
Pebble (aka Me!): So. You pressed the "Read" button on my story.
Reader: Uh, yeah I did. What's going on?
Me: *spins around in the chair to face the reader, except I turn around in the chair too fast so I keep spinning around, therefore embarrassing myself*
Me: ..Pretend that didn't just happen.
Me: *claps hands together* So! You wanna read my book huh? I admire your curiosity, kid.
Reader: We're like the same age-
Me: But don't let the title fool you! Because this isn't some kind of horror/thriller like it suggests. It's actually a-
Reader: A teen drama. Yeah, I read the book description.
Me: Okay, I'm trying to do this whole "mystery narrator" thing and your little sarcastic comments aren't helping.
Reader: Sorry, sorry. Go on.
Me: Thank you. Yes, this story is a teen drama. With moments full of laughter, love, some heartbreak, and most importantly, friendship. Still with me here?
Reader: Okay, so why is it called "Fresh Meat"?
Me: Because it's about starting high school! And high school is the scariest part of your life, especially if you're a freshman! Get it? Freshman "Fresh Meat"?
Reader: Oh, I get it! That's really clever!
Me: Why, thank you.
Reader: But high school isn't really that scary.
Me: Whaaat? Of course it is!
Reader: Even scarier than taxes?
Me: ...Ok, ONE of the scariest parts of your life.
Me: But still, starting high school can be scary. I was nervous when I was a freshman. And I'm sure you were too.
Reader: You're not wrong. I was pretty nervous.
Me: Exactly! And that's what this book is about! The struggles of high school and some of the obstacles that most teenagers face.
Reader: Oh boy. I don't think I'm ready for that.
Me: Oh don't worry! It's not that bad! Yes, there's some sad moments, but it's not that depressing. There are also cute and funny moments, and some heartwarming ones too.
Reader: Hm, sounds like a good read!
Me: I know right? So what do you say? Ready to read my book?
Reader: Of course? I mean, I was on board to begin with.
Me: Great! *clears throat* (in a deep voice that detectives use) I'll leave you to it. But just one more thing before you go. Keep this in mind as you're reading: With true friends by your side, anything obstacle is-
Reader: Is possible to overcome. Yeah, I read that in the description too. Can I read the book now please?
Me: *crosses my arms and huffs* Buzzkill.
